Compensatory Draft Picks, Giants a 4th round pick ?

Archer : 1/17/2018 9:00 am
In reading an OTC January 6th article about compensatory draft picks, I was pleased to see that the Giants are projected to receive a 4th round pick. The pick is estimated to be the 3rd selection after the completion of the 4th round.

The pick is compensation for the loss of Jonathan Hankins.
Quote:

3rd/4th
•TJ Lang (Green Bay): #88
•Ricky Wagner (Baltimore): #89
•Projected 3rd/4th cutoff: #97
•Tony Jefferson (Arizona): #103
•Jabaal Sheard (New England): #119
•Johnathan Hankins (New York Giants): #127

•Ron Leary (Dallas): #133

The analysis takes into consideration players lost and gained, contracts, playing time, etc.

I’m good with that.

And Who know if we move back from 2nd overall we might get an extra pick or two.

I will say that I M against moving back if we do t get a teams first roynd pick next year.
It's possible that Hankins could play in the Pro Bowl as an alternate

I wonder if that counts in the formula. It's remotely possible that the pick could be a third rounder.
So we pick twice early in the 4th

and you now an trade com picks ... this will be {should} fun!

I think it has mostly to do with the contract he signed, but other things do enter into it.
Are you sure it's 8 picks the Giants
pjcas18 : 1/17/2018 9:28 am : link
have with the comp pick? I believe they traded a conditional round pick to PIT for Cockrell. I think it was a 7th, not sure the conditions, but I have to believe the conditions were met.

Did the Giants trade anyone else to get another pick back?
I am not going to get my hopes up that it's a 4th round pick
Jay on the Island : 1/17/2018 9:29 am : link
In the past I was convinced the Giants would receive a 3rd or 4th round comp pick and they would end up with a 6th or a 7th round pick instead.

Don’t we lose one for the Cockrell trade?

What's the 8th pick? The Giants traded their 7th rounder to Pittsburgh for Cockrell.

No, we pick once early in the 4th and once late in the 4th. Compensatory picks come at the conclusion of each round.
Assuming

that we keep the comp pick and our 5th round pick, both will be made very close together.
Don't forget we also get the Saints' 2nd for Shockey

Just 7 including the comp pick. No 7th round pick for Cockrell.

No. Compensatory picks come at the end of the round. The Giants would get the 3rd compensatory pick, not the 3rd overall in that round.
So the Giants have 8 picks

this year, right?
two 4th rounders?
idiotsavant : 1/17/2018 12:40 pm : link
i'd be targeting the Lotulelie younger brother, DT, 6'2" 320, makes plays all over.

In fact, assume, or maybe, in 1-3 your going OL, OL, RB,

I would go DT in both 4th rounders.

the mistake on Linval Joseph should have been firing offenses in themselves.

plays right into DG's wheelhouse. Cannot wait for the draft or next season.

Need to knock this draft out of the park
