Snow day for me here in VA so I found this classic on youtube.Without question one of my favorite regular games of all-time...these Giants were Bad asses Top 5 regular season game - ( New Window )
one of mine too! That was a real throwback game. a neanderthal Â
were as good as the 80's teams. Didn't last though.
That Season was a lot like 1990. Dominant thru the first 10 or so weeks. Every one expecting Super Bowl. Then stumble. Key injury. The 1990 team got it's groove back. 2008 didn't. Went out with a whimper against Philly. Still very disappointing.
Including a nice interception.. guy had nice physical tools. He was basically another Boley but Boley was the guy in front of him and Coughlin didn't like Kehl
remember slightly losing my voice screaming at the tv because of all the holding the Steeler DBs were getting away with. Regardless this is the 2nd most physical Giant game I've seen IMO (the 1st being the 2011 NFC championship game). This is among a handful of regular season games I'd love to see in its entirety again
How everyone thought we'd still be OK without Plaxico. Including me. Of course when you take away a 6'6" athletic veteran wide out and replace him with Domenik Hixon it changes the offense.
That week we unleashed KP and he played like a mega stud
I remember Phillips' play in that game. During one play he came out of nowhere to break up a pass. I remember watching the replay and just saying "wow," I thought we had the league's next superstar FS. It's a shame the knee didn't hold up.
Only seen 2 Giant away games - and this was one of them- sunny November crisp day. Great game - and I didn't see too many giants fans. I wore only a throwback giants baseball cap - the steeler fans were 1st class. We were the defending champs after all -and we won the game.
I don't go to many games but I have been to every Giants vs Steelers games since Eli and Ben were drafted, in NJ and in Pittsburgh
Where there many Giants fans there?
There are usually not a lot of away fans at Steelers games, They are all season ticket holders so you have to buy tickets on the secondary markets. On top of that Steeler fans buy those tickets on the secondary markets. Luckily I am one of the few Giants fans here so usually someone calls me and asks if I want to go with them or buy their tickets for cost. Or I call people I know that have tickets and ask them way in advance since it is every 4 years.
Mendenhall from a pass along the sideline. It was a perfectly timed hit and they flagged him for it. That was BS. I remember eating a bunch of hazelnuts after a few beers during the game and having the worst heartburn of my life.
Bryan Kehl had an interception off a deflection in this game Â
of why I really enjoyed the Coughlin-Gilbride offense: The 4th&short deep sideline pass to a diving Amani Toomer.
A sideline go route is a terrible thing to run on 4th&short, but the defense showed press-man coverage outside with no deep help, so that was the "correct" read for both the WR and QB. And, on that play, it was beautiful.
(It mars the moment only slightly that NYG couldn't punch it in from the 5 and settled for a short FG on the drive.)
Olde time football! What a fucking great game! I knew the Giants were the best in the NFL after this game. Haven’t seen a Giants team like that since - well - that game I guess.
honorable mention for me was the Ravens game where they had not given up a 100 yard rusher in a couple of years and the giants ran for over 250 and almost had TWO 100 yd rushers!

Yes another great one! Who can foregt the murderer Lewis avoiding a rampaging Brandon Jacobs?
F'ing Plaxico.
F'ing Plaxico.
They beat the entire final 4 Steelers, Cards, Ravens and split with Eagles
F'ing Plaxico.
Add to that we even beat all 4 of the participants in the AFC/NFC Championship games too - Pitt/Balt & Ariz/Phil
Man, that was the team ...

Just goes to show how quickly a season can turn.
Just depressing when you look back at it.

That's the difference between Head Coaches. One could adjust one could not.
So Coughlin, who took two non-dominant teams to Super Bowl titles, couldn't make adjustments?
So many fucked up takes here.

Brent Alexander? Try again.
Beat the Steelers and the Cardinals on the road that season. I'm still convinced that if Plaxico doesn't shoot himself, we go to the Super Bowl.
NYBNE, so true about Aikman having to eat shit. A hidden highlight.

Sigh.....we should have repeated.
