That was four coaches and 10 starting quarterbacks ago, so I’m starting to forget which coaches even coached which quarterbacks.

I've always respected Mary Cabot as a reporter. She makes some strong points.

"He’s worked with a lot of different QBs since then, and can adapt to the style of his starter."

This is important to me since it shows that he is not locked into one guy that fits his system which can limit who the Giants might take if they go qb in the draft.

Plus the can change the offense to fit the qbs hes got in Eli and Davis (if he has to play next season).

Thanks, that was excellent

The fact that he drafted a 28 year old Weeden speaks volumes about his view as to the importance of that position.

For me, just one more indicator that Giants are going QB at #2.

This is what separates the good coaches from the bad IMO. There are too many stubborn coaches like McAdoo who try to fit a square into a round hole. Shurmur builds his offense around the strengths of his players. It isn't a coincidence that Keenum and Thielen had career year's under Shurmur. I just hope that Shurmur brings Edwards and Sparano along with him.

was response to how he will handle the media.
"He can definitely handle it. We broke him in, just like we did Bill Belichick back in the day."
Tony Sparano would be a great addition

if Shurmer offers him the OC job I'd be very happy to have him if he accepted.

....but Shurmer knew the future of the team was in it's young players, so he never made the concession of playing veterans to get himself a few more wins in the interests of job preservation. It's called doing the right thing and is to be respected.

Shurmur didn’t draft Weeden. Holmgren and his front office did.

I heard that before and that doesn't mean a whole lot to me. It is good that he can play the young guys but knowing your situation is important too. They needed to win more games and they didn't. If the premise is just he played young guys to develop long term I would say that was a failure as he wasn't there to complete that mission.

Now, in retrospect they actually might see those times as far more successful than now but in reality the last 4-5 years has been horribly mismanaged in the FO. Coaching was not going to change the shit show they assembled for a roster. They wrote the book on acquiring draft picks and then added how to completely screw that up as a sequel..
