Pat Shurmur named NFL Assistant Coach of the Year

Pat Shurmur won an award Thursday that he won't eligible for next year.

Shurmur was named NFL Assistant Coach of the Year by the Pro Football Writers Association for his work as Vikings offensive coordinator.

The Giants are expected to meet with Shurmur next week and hire him as head coach shortly after the Vikings season ends, whether that's in the NFC Championship Game against the Eagles or after the Super Bowl.

but Shurmur makes sense.

Until the disaster in Minnesota, I would have given it to Dennis Allen. The transformation for that Saints D was incredible.

Then one imbeciles forgot how to tackle...
