Pat Shurmur can’t talk about the likelihood he will be the Giants’ next head coach, but Thursday after practice at the Vikings’ Winter Park facility, Shurmur said he had a great conversation with the team’s brass in his interview and lauded the franchise he is expected to join.
“It’s an iconic franchise,” Shurmur said. “And I came out of that meeting with the same amount of respect I had for them going in.”
Shurmur also said it’s important when coaching quarterbacks “to be firm but calm,” because there is a ton going through the QBs' minds.
But he said his coaching style doesn’t have to be calm, either.
“I’m at peace with a wide range of emotions I would say,” Shurmur said with a smirk.

Seems like a man who is comfortable being himself.
Also need his thoughts on heavy handed men of integrity.

and I sure hope we have great practices week in and week out
Wouldn't it be better to say that I came out of the meeting with even more respect that I had going in. Instead he says the guys he met with didn't move him one way of the other.

It's meant as a way to say he had a high level of respect for them. It's a complement.
