made their game even faster. And everyone loved it.
The NFL and MLB have such a problem with time, yet there's no concerted effort to fix it.
And ironically, NHL always got shit for being too slow of a game even though their games were never really that long to begin with!
Haha, exactly. Not sure what baseball trying to address length of games has to do with the NBA unless this guy want MLB to address the issues in the NBA as well?
It’s total torture. And even worse now with the reviews.
Baseball is a great game that has been bastardized by specialization.
It’s obvious the clowns running the sport are now comfortable with it being just a regional sport. The distance between where the sport is now versus when it truly was our national pastime has never been wider...
Of the problem is the players are use to stepping out of the batters box after every pitch since they started playing baseball as a kid. I remember helping coach my sons little league team, were talking 10-12 year olds this was 20 years ago. It's hard asking them to stop doing what they did there whole life.

I dont recall steppinv kut with each pitch except against one psrticular pitcher who tfied to quick pitch. I have been coaching my skn for 8 years now and thjs is not a thing with young players.

It was in our league. Is it a rule that you cannot step out? Either way it's good that they don't.
Leave it alone. They could limit the number of trips to the mound by the catcher. Sanchez started to piss me off with all his trips in between every pitch. But other that that, leave it alone. It's a great game as it is. No clock. As yogi said "It ain't over until it's over!!"

Your rant is cute, but the actual subject matter of this discussion is that the commissioner and "clowns running the sport" want to speed up the game and implement rules to ensure it. The players union is rejecting the ideas.
Harvest - to each their own, i turned off Yanks/Sox playoff games because they were taking way too long. The average employed, family (kid and house responsibilities) doesnt have 5 hours per day to kill watching a game. Or 7 hours if you actually go to the game. And its not just those teams - Dodgers/Nationals in game 5 went 5 hours to play 9 innings too. Some of the Dodgers/Astros games this year were tortuously long.
And that's playoffs - I know there's a contingent in the regular season that loves to "relax" and watch a game... take their time, etc. -- that might work on a Saturday or sunday afternoon. But on a Tuesday night? Fuck that, i want a game that's over by 9:30 (2.5 hours) so i can get some sleep and get ready for real-life the next morning.

The problem is 100 years ago or even 40 years ago games were a lot shorter . YES always shows Guidry's 18 strike out game. Watch and you see him get the ball from the pitcher set up and pitch.
of other sports, we'll soon have replays trying to figure out if the ball left the pitcher's hand prior to the expiration! Or based on the rule, if the motion started.

Exactly. The union should be the arbiter of what's best for the sport.
Viva la revolucion!
Kidding aside - don't dilute your product.

They were also some of the greatest baseball games I've ever seen.

That will be fun to dissect....
