Not sure if out there but source tells @sportingnews that @panthers have promoted assistant special teams coach Chase Blackburn to head special teams coach
Not the most talented player, but a guy who got the most out of his ability. He'll always be remembered for this Super Bowl interception - Link - ( New Window )
was it chase who got hired like 11 games into the same, picked off aaron rodgers and led the giants to another superbowl?
Yes, he was sitting on his couch when the typical rash of injuries depleted our LBs. He was called in and that week got an interception in the endzone to seal the victory for that week. I just don't remember if it was Rodgers.
Him no end of shit and made him the poster boy for 'not very athletic' then....comes back, gets the big INT...
He wasn't the first and won't be the last. Fans get caught up in the measurables and often overlook that some are just football players. He wasn't the fastest, but the guy gave his all and came up big when it mattered.
the Giants wouldn't have gotten to XLVI to win it if it weren't for Blackburn. The Giants run D got a lot tougher when he came back to augment a depleted LB corp. He was the BEEF! Very good player who played his assignment every play, and played as well as his athleticism allowed.
12 men on the field penalty in Superbowl XLII. Quinn always has the units ready to go.
The penalty that led to Belichik going for it on fourth and fail, giving us a 20 yd advantage in field position as the net result of a chain of events precipitated by Blackburns penalty? Even his penalty helped. Oh, and the final interception. There's that. Would have been fine with him replacing Quinn.
Never know, he could wind up back in NY down the road in some coaching capacity or other years from now when we are all older men.

Yeah, I remember it resulted in them going for it on 4th down. I didn't remember if it was the play after that or the D held them and they went for it. He was a good player for the Giants.

It might have been obvious to Gidie, but I saw the subject and thought we were assembling a staff before a HC.

:)
Fuckers
I'd prefer that it were a Giants topic.
