I am looking for a platform to launch a new web site. Would be blog style doing product reviews, etc
I am looking for the following...
1. Nothing with a high monthly cost
2. Something that enables me to change the tags for each page because one page may be focusing on one topic while the next another.
3. The ability to paste google ads for example and earn revenue that way. I already have an adsense account and would like to take advantage of that.
4. The ability to take orders, credit cards, paypal, etc
5. A forum style or ability for people to leave comments and create engagement
I have been researching but every advice article I read contradicts one another.
There are loads of free/open source plugins, code examples, and a massive community of developers online. You can most certainly find cheap help if you're not a programmer yourself.

yeah I am not a programmer and not even sure where to look.
With a lot of the other content platforms, stuff like Wix, Weedly, Squarespace, etc. you're locked into their platform.
I'm happy to answer any questions you might have. I'm teaching a WordPress for Beginners class on the 24th if you're on Long Island.

Your only monthly cost is to host it. There are many affordable web hosts that offer "1 click WordPress install" as well.

There are a number of ways you can go about it. Definitely talk to Gary to get some additional info.
Aside from Gary, you can check out websites like Freelancer, Fiverr, Upwork, etc. These sites allow you to post a job and request bids from developers/designers who can work with you. These sites are known for having very low rates, but you'll get what you pay for.
The nice thing with WordPress is you can always just get something functional and working and find someone else to help you upgrade and improve on the design.
Another avenue to try is sites like Craigslist, developers will advertise their services or you can post a listing looking for a WordPress developer.
Can not recommend it highly enough.
