Nash, Lundqvist (if he'll waive). McDonagh, Staal. Put 'em all on the block. They aren't going to win with this group. And since AV insists on riding them while they are here, it stunts the growth of the next wave.
I've come around to the side of those here who think AV has to go. Everyday is groundhog day.
he's been playing with this most of the season. I've been too hard on him I guess, I thought he's been mediocre at best. And worse when you consider the contract.
hate when players try to tough out injuries without letting me know (LOL).
I do think he's been bad enough though it wouldn't change things if I were in the Rangers FO with my plans for the deadline/season, plenty of D available that can provide what Shattenkirk has provided this year, for low $$$/compensation.
And since AV insists on riding them while they are here, it stunts the growth of the next wave.
I dont like AV, but what 'next wave growth' has been stunted? Buchnevich? He finally seems to be out of the dog house. What players in the minors should be here getting minutes over Nash, Grabner and Zuccs? Hartford is *awful* this year. And Andersson and Chytil are both teenagers probably better off developing - i dont think either is ready, unfortunately.
4-6 weeks is most common. I guess if they find its serious its a 6 month deal... but from the quotes this morning, everyone seems to think its the former.
The good news is we dont have to trade anyone next 5 weeks, so i'm sure they'll see how we do next 4-6 without Kreider and Shatty and go from there.
Now if someone offers us two 1s for Nash right now, you have to strongly consider it.. but i highly doubt that happens.

Trade Nash/Grabner, look to get out of a contract or two of the overpriced DMen, and restock some assets. Not impressed with Gorton, so far, this team and last year's team lack identity and a blueprint of where they're trying to go.
so Grabner and Nash are the two names most often mentioned in Rangers deadline trades.
I'd hold on to Nash as long as possible and if in contention no chance I deal Nash.
He's valuable in ways many fans don't realize (most of the BBI Rangers fans do, but a lot of fans don't).
He's everything you look for in a veteran leader, can score, can defend, can play top line minutes, can be on the PP, PK, just basically does everything a coach wants.
His post-seasons haven't always been stellar, but not for lack of shots.
If the Rangers fall out of contention I can see trading Nash as a rental, but if it were me, not until then.

short sighted Ranger thinking. This team is going NOWHERE. Even if the prime kids you mentioned aren't ready this year, play some journeyman to finish the string. Doing as you suggest is typical of the Rangers thinking historically. Which is why they are 1 for 77 and counting.
Not saying he's great at everything, but he's at least competent at everything. He's like a Swiss Army knife, he can be used in many different roles and play well in any of them. Some people grumble because he's no longer the goal-scorer he was in his younger years, and I understand that, but he's a really valuable player. Particularly valuable to a legit contender, I'd think.
Gorton needs to do his due diligence now on possible trade partners and then allow the team to make his decision for him. They have 5 weeks to show the GM they're worthy of being granted another playoff shot. If they're still this inconsistent at the end of February, pull the trigger and sell. considering the upcoming schedule, I think that's the most likely outcome
to trade McDonagh. Quality defensemen are hard to come by. He's only 28 yrs old. Grabner is only 29. His speed is electric and creates all kinds of opportunities and space for his linemates. Nash will be 34 in June. He has a couple of good years left, but not much more than that.
At 34 is one of our best goal scorers. When Grabner is 34, he will be one of our top goal scorers. Why trade him for a 24 year old who will be another typical ranger who scores 17 goals a year.
Because they can both leave for nothing after the season. Same with McDonagh after next season. He'll likely be looking for a big contract after the rangers had him on a team friendly deal the last five years
Speaking specifically about Grabner. He will finish with over 50 goals in last two years. Is he not worth 3.5 mil a year, or are you going to trade him for a 3rd rounder who may end up being a top 6 Dman someday. Pay da man!

Agree with the rest, sell off Nash, Grabner, and McD (if you get a ton back). See what you have in DeAngelo and Pionk.

hahahahahahah 2 #1's bahahahahahahaha
It's not a matter of wanting to get rid of him. But the ratio of his trade value vs. future value to the Rangers is pretty high.

Grabner I'd trade for a decent return, even now.

Tempted to make a political comparison here, but of course won't.
