Mike Felger of WBZ in Boston reported that Brady received four stitches after hitting a teammate’s helmet during Wednesday’s practice and that the injury should not have a great impact on his ability to play. Brady refused to say if he threw passes during Friday’s practice, but wide receiver Danny Amendola intimated that he did and that he was throwing well during his own press conference later in the day.

since this is the first concrete evidence of what his injury is -- I posted it as news. There was another thread on his possible injury posted before you posted your thread as well.
I mentioned it in the other thread,

but Jax should make an emphasis of hitting that hand at every opportunity. Running play - get to the Tom and swat the hand. Ball already thrown - swat/grab/squeeze Tom's hand. He'll be wearing the glove to protect the stitches and he doesn't like the feel of the ball with the gloves. The repetitive hitting and the glove might lead to a few turnovers.
Good Fuck him
superspynyg : 1/19/2018 5:32 pm : link
I do think he will play though.
I've had stitches in my hand
gidiefor : Mod : 1/19/2018 5:36 pm : link
and in my opinion, this has got to affect his throwing motion

the amount of whip a professional thrower makes has to stress the area that is healing - and stitches kind of draw the skin together tighter
actually - the cut is on his thumb
gidiefor : Mod : 1/19/2018 5:44 pm : link
... that really has to affect his grip

Reports are 4 stitches around the knuckel
pjcas18 : 1/19/2018 5:48 pm : link
and he threw the ball well today (not viewed by the media from what I read, but apparently leaked).

We'll see how it affects him when 6'8" 300lb Calais repeatedly swats it. Toss in Fowler and Yannick coming from the edges swinging, Tom might be in for a long day.

with or without 4 stitches in his knuckle that was possible, but Ben threw for 5 TD's and almost 500 yards against them last week. I wouldn't be so confident in the Jaguars defense. Pats OL vs Jags DL probably determines the game.
He is the GOAT
est1986 : 1/19/2018 5:57 pm : link
He should be fine.

I watched the game and the stats don't necessarily tell the complete story. Jax was having their way with Pitt. Take away the 4th down hail mary plays and Ben's stat line looks pedestrian. I know - if my aunt had balls... But for example the 4th and 11 from the wrong side of their 50 is absolutely the wrong call. There were no other reads, Ben was slinging the long ball. Peel off 60 yards and a TD there if the ball isn't completed. Not to mention the dynamic of the game giving the ball to Jax on short field with them up by 3 scores already. If Jax goes ahead with a score there, the game is over.
Eh...
trueblueinpw : 1/19/2018 6:16 pm : link
How many points do the Pats really need to beat Bortles? I’m reasonably certain the Jags aren’t going into Foxborough and hanging 42 on a Hoodie led defense. Would it really surprise anyone if the Jags were held to less than 10 points? Brady’s hand is gonna hurt like fuck all on Monday morning but I bet a little Toradal, some liquid skin and a fancy glove will make everything okay on game time Sunday.
I hope he gets it crushed between two helmets

Bite it.
More info on the extent of the injury.
Diver_Down : 1/19/2018 7:56 pm : link
Apparently it isn't a cut on the knuckle, but the webbing between the thumb and index finger requiring 4 stitches. In addition to the stitches, the thumb "bent back badly" which would explain what some perceive as a splint under the gloves. Because of the injury, he has been unable to take a snap under center.
Brady's Boo Boo - ( New Window )
So basically
tony71 : 1/19/2018 7:59 pm : link
he is a hero if he wins for playing with an injury, and if he loses it was because of an injury so we cant blame Tom because he is a hero and he tried so hard to play through it.. Yeah that sounds like Brady..
If he can’t go
Tittle 9 20 64 : 1/19/2018 8:05 pm : link
they still have Garoppolo..... oh wait
They should take a little air out of the ball
Jimmy Googs : 1/19/2018 8:15 pm : link
to make it easier for him to grip and throw the ball..
Oh poor Tom
CRinCA : 1/19/2018 8:27 pm : link
as far as I'm concerned he was gifted he last 2 SB wins anyway. Fuck him.
What I can't grasp is the force
Diver_Down : 1/19/2018 8:28 pm : link
that it took for the ball to bend his thumb back so far that it tore the webbing between his thumb and index finger. I've been sitting here trying to bend my thumb back, and realizing it hurts to do so. But it must have been some serious contortionist shit to tear the flesh requiring stitches. I absolutely think it has to have an impact on how he throws the ball.
Four stitches?
SomeFan : 1/19/2018 8:42 pm : link
This should not have any impact. Shit, even if it opens, I doubt it has any effect.
The “bend back” is
SomeFan : 1/19/2018 8:44 pm : link
a potential issue.
If the thumb was bent back far enough
markky : 1/20/2018 12:28 am : link
To tear the web of his hand he could have ucl (ulnar collateral ligament) damage. That could hurt and cause grip issues.
C'mon guys
Jint Fan in Buc Land : 1/20/2018 6:24 am : link
Going up against an extremely talented and accomplished defense, that is probably thinking a little too much of themselves right now, you guys really aren't thinking this is just BB mind games??

Those kids were convinced they were going to beat the Pats and now with everyone wondering about Brady they are really prone to a nasty wake up call.

This is what BB does, he even finds a way to exploit a minor injury. The NFL is playing checkers and he's playing chess.

I expect no difference out of the Pats but now wouldn't be surprised for the jags to fall flat on their faces

Diver_Down : 1/20/2018 6:38 am : link
I at first didn't give it much credence attributing the reports to another of Bill's mind games with the opponent. Then as the reports begin leaking out with the details, it is hard to continue to believe it is just Bill being Bill. As diabolical as we like to think Bill is, I don't think he would go to the extent requiring Brady to have stitches in order to continue with the ruse.

Regarding the Jags - They are playing with house money. No one expected the level of success that they have achieved. Most fans around the league would have expected a .500 season from the Jags, instead they are playing in the AFC Championship. They are playing with zero expectations. A young, brash, and talented team will be playing fast and loose. All the expectations are on the Patriots. If they win, it was because it was expected. If they lose, it was due to an epic letdown. If the Jags win, they will still not get credit.
I remember
Nomad Crow on the Madison : 1/20/2018 6:48 am : link
the 1965 Orange Bowl. Texas vs Alabama. Joe Namath came off the bench still recovering from a knee injury to rally Bama in the second half. Darrell Royal, Texas head coach, told his defense, "If anyone hits Namath in the knees, you won't play another down." Sportsmanship.
He’ll be fine.
