tried this a few months ago, but it turned out to be restaurant week, so we wound up at McCormick and Schmicks which isn't awful and it was right across from our hotel, but it's a chain, so trying again.
In Philly Monday night (downtown Marriott on 12th and Market). Looking for a steak house (or other recommendation), ideally walking distance, but would uber to a place if worth it.
thanks in advance.
barclay prime, singer & deutsch (for steaks and in that order). El Vez (for mexican). Time is a good bar nearby with good beers and whisky.
You also have reading terminal market right there. D'Nic's is famous for their roast pork. Skip it and get the brisket with sharp provolone and spinach (or the brocc rabe).

I think it closes at 6. I’m in Philly for work 2-3 times a year and I always make sure I stop there, it’s really awesome. Dinics for roast pork for lunch and Bielers sticky buns to bring home. Just a cool place to walk around.
hope so. I actually totally forgot about the game on Sunday. I am taking the train from Boston Sunday.
and you can thank me later

Question. Should I try Pasanos roast pork. And what about John’s.
What’s the ranking from those in the know.

Yes you should.
For traditional roast pork sandwiches, it's John's ahead of Dinics. I think the Paesano roast pork is perhaps the best sandwich in the city, but it's a little different. More "gourmet" or something like that.
Paesanos
Johns Roast Pork
Dinics
LOL, is that true?

How many restaurant weeks do they have?
I did luck out in NYC when it was restaurant week, walked in to Delmonicos kitchen around 8:30 after the theater crowd left, got a table right away, and had an incredible ribeye with a wedge salad and a couple sides on their prix fixe menu.
last time in Philly we couldn't even get in anywhere (except McCormick and Schmicks).
Oh well, we'll see what happens, it's a Monday night so maybe it won't be as bad.
Thanks everyone for the recommendations.
along with 3 Angels Envy bourbons.
One of the best steaks I've ever had. I think I make a decent steak at home, but man, you go to a steak house it reminds me every time steak is the one thing I don't get close to restaurant quality.
thanks for the recommendation, the place was great, service was awesome, and it was an easy walk from the downtown Marriott.
