Nah, Roy was far from a POS. He clearly made some bad choices on his last day, with or without Rx drugs, and he paid the ultimate price. And now Brandi and the boys have to suffer the consequences. Just sad. But Roy was definitely not a POS.
Just reading the article, Halliday was flying impaired and too close to (innocent) homes. We are all very lucky he didn't kill anyone else.
Tony - not sure if you know the wife or just a fan and chose to mention the wife by name to try and generate sympathy in this narrative... I was a big Halliday fan when he played... but this is sounding like a selfish act that could have been a lot worse. Feel bad for his kids.
The Halladay's lived in my neighborhood around the corner from me when we first moved to Florida a dozen years ago. My eldest daughter babysat the boys for a while before she went off to college. Then Roy got his huge contract from the Jays and they moved to a much nicer neighborhood.
I wouldn't say we were friends but we knew each other. I have several friends who are good friends with the Halladay's.
So, admittedly, I'm a little biased. Did Roy make some terrible, horrible decisions on the last day of his life? Absolutely. Is everyone fortunate that no one else was hurt? Absolutely. Was this an avoidable event which makes it even sadder? You bet. Was Roy a "POS"? Not even close.
assuming he was a good man generally and a good family man. No doubt, he had some sort of opiate addiction. However even tahing the addiction as a disease, the choice to fly while stoned is incredibly stupid and selfish stuff, and there is no way of knowing how many other times he had done that before the last time.
Yeah, I have no reason to doubt that he was a good guy in general. Â
The pain killers cause sleep problems, so he takes sleeping pills, he takes the speed to counteract the effects when he needs to be alert. Who the fuck prescribes all these drugs?

You have to consider the possibility that "who" is plural in this case.
Remember - and we all thought that guy who cried over McAdoo benching Eli with his wife and composing the "tears at dinner" thread was an overreaction.
pjcas is absolutely correct. There's nothing in the article to contradict the premise that this was a horrible accident. Blood test results do not establish impairment, and flying dangerously low is synonymous with crash.
I understand the article was misleading to some, but in this day and age, think about what you read before reacting
he could have killed people on the ground. Flying over a suburban neighborhood
what a POS.
Do some research before making such a statement.

How dare you...

So maybe before the high and mighty declare him a POS maybe wait for reports to come back.
if it does he deserves the criticism, if not people should STFU until facts are released.

This place cannot keep up with itself.

Anyone with those drugs in their system should not be flying. At all.
So yeah, if people want to rail away on it, I’m fine with it.
