NFT: Knicks Thread - trade discussion

GMEN46 : 1/20/2018 8:54 am
Anyone here any rumblings around potential Knicks trades. Cleveland clearly needs some help. Here is a proposal I would offer:

Cavs Get
Lee
Thomas
Beasley
Oquinn

Knicks get
Shump - 1 year less on contract than Lee
Frye - Expiring contract
Osman - young guy very cheap contract locked up for 2 more years.

Knicks Get swap rights with Nets pick this year. Could be nothing major but at least we theoretically will have 2 longshot chances at top 3 pick. Swap rights with Cavs 2020 pick and then Cavs throw in a 2nd rounder from 2020-2022. Or instead of a swap option on Cavs pick I would take a 2021 protected 1st from Cavs

Knocks free up cap space, get a younger guy in osman and get some interesting draft pick option. I think they have to get creative like this, I don’t think any of there guys have much value but packaging a few together could get some value. Cleveland does not really need Thomas but oquinn, Lee Beasley can all be useful players for them and are def upgrades over frye and shump.

Another option I like is

Knicks get
Stanley Johnson
Ish Smith - 1 year less on contract than Thomas

Pistons get
Oquinn
Lance Thomas
Beasley
Jack

I am also a fan of Rodney Hood, but I am not sure we have what it takes to get him and not sure what kind of contract he will Command in the offseason. If you can get him for hernangomez I think you do it. He would be a restricted free agent at 25 years old and not many teams will have a lot of cap space. Maybe a 4 year $40-$50 million gets it done. I think the upside here could be big, plus I think he is already an above average defender who can get better as he gets stronger. I would also trade Bulls 2nd rd pick but don’t think that will be enough
I hope Frank

He is to damn timid, I liked Frank coming out but he looks scared to make a mistake.

I would roll with burke for a little bit, you could see the difference..

The hornets want to engage the knicks in talks for kemba, so far no traction...

Hornets want a young player, a first and a bad contract removed
Really no thanks to Kemba

at that price point. Frank plus a first? Come on, man.
And if not Frank,
Beezer : 1/20/2018 9:42 am : link
now you have Frank and Kemba?

Doesn’t feel like a re-build.

How about Knicks send Lee and Quinn to Cavs for Shumpert (one more year on contract), Frye (expiring), Osman, opportunity to swap Nets pick with our pick and future second round?

Cleveland gets solid vet help and Knicks get cap relief and maybe move up a few slots in draft.

Did you not read thread I started above?
Dennis Smith should have been the Knicks pick

He is going to be a star for the Mavs.

Donovan Mitchell*
Sorry Gmen46

I only skimmed. But at least we agree, although I’d give up less and get a second round pick. But regardless, you had it first, my apologies.
Dennis Smith isn't a point guard.
Ten Ton Hammer : 1/20/2018 11:28 am : link
And we're like four days removed from Frank missing a triple-double by an eyelash.
Agreed LT56
Rick in Dallas : 1/20/2018 11:28 am : link
But I was focused on PG position in the draft.
I have no remorse

About passing on Dennis Smith, no defense and undersized. Now d Mitchell on the other hand we will be regretting for many many years.
