How much influence/input does Coughlin have

Steve L : 1/21/2018 4:39 pm
On game plan in his position? I don’t know how it works. Would this be a Marrone playoff run, or both?
As much as you
Jolly Blue Giant : 1/21/2018 4:40 pm : link
Can without owning the team. GM report to him.

Missed gameplan I think he just keeps his door open formMarrone. Marrone seems to ask hi his opinion often.
Marrone said earlier this week in PC
Diver_Down : 1/21/2018 4:46 pm : link
that he can't lean on Coughlin anymore. If he did, he would hurt Tom.

That might not be the exact quote word for word, but it is pretty accurate in the sentiment.
Not enough to force Marrone to punt that ball
arniefez : 1/21/2018 4:51 pm : link
Because for 12 years he punted in that spot.

I don't think anyone is implying that Coughlin is calling down from the booth in-game plays.
It s a good question
joeinpa : 1/21/2018 5:02 pm : link
Reading and listening to the accolades thrown his way, you get the impression he is more responsible for their success than Marone.

I have no idea what the dynamic is.

Yes to all.

And in his spare time, he cleans the Kismet.
You guys should be happy for him....

I'm pulling for JAX... I just realize that there are other people who have a hand in their success.

I'm not bitter. I'm a big fan of Tom and have enjoyed the dynamic that he has brought to Jax. I'm just poking fun at Arc.
It's too bad he didn't move up to our front office.

are so hung up on giving all the credit or blame to one person for everything..how about everyone is responsible and deserves credit? Extremely happy for TC, I think if the Jags pull off a Super Bowl win it solidifies TC's entry into the HoF.

Jacksonville needs to actually win the game, first...
Jax has had a very successful season even if they don't win this.

I think we're all happy for Tom, and the bitterness is directed towards the team for letting him get away

I agree with ya but TC is already in. Another SB would just be gravy.

Yeah, I think he's going to get in eventually but it would definitely punch the ticket for him.
Did you see him with that pencil/pen
mdc1 : 1/21/2018 6:08 pm : link
up in the booth. If you don't think he was not involved today I would be shocked. What told me was a typical TC'ism to get conservative in Q3/Q4 and let opponents hang around. They have Bortles, but he is not a proven Q4 quarterback. Brady just showed how to play 4 quarters, hallmark of all Bill teams and is proteges (Saban, etc).

That’s likely for after the game. If TC was involved with what went on in game Jacksonville has some issues that will arise
They lost, but that was a pretty good looking team.

It's weird, I never felt an ounce of happiness for Parcells in any role he had after he left and I feel nothing for Coughlin.

I sort of hate the Jags and their fans so no tears here.

His ticket is already punched IMO. You can't forget the job he did down in Jax the first time around. Building that team from scratch and taking it far in the playoffs. He had a hand in every aspect of that franchise from the beginning. Then winning two SB's with the Giants makes it a done deal.

I got you. Once Parcells left I actually rooted against him.

Not so with Coughlin as his time with the Giants had run its course.

I didn t necessarily root for him, but definitely did not root against him.

I pulled for JAX today, but the posters who made it seem like everything JAX accomplished this year was an indictment on the Giants made it a bit tough.

So, it is what it is...

If Minny wins today, I'll pull for them to beat NE.

If not, I'll obviously pull for the Pats to do the same thing they did the last time PHI finally made it to the big game.
I miss TC

They fired the wrong guy. Even if they felt they needed a change at HC, they should have kicked him to the FO and dumped JR.

With the way Mara wanted everyone to be friends, I assume he offered Tom a spot in the front office.

This. Absolutely. I wonder if Mara really expected him to accept the offer to move upstairs. Was he not offered as much power, or was he just not ready to accept not coaching?

I loved TC, but believed he had lost enough on his fastball with in game decisions at the end to bring in a new coach. But I think I always expected him to continue to be a company man. Very glad to see him succeed. He really is a hell of a man, and has a way of getting the best out of the people around him.
Love TC, but he's getting too much credit here.

I love the way the Jags play o bothe sides of the ball. Physically dominant. They look to beat people up. Bortles has to get more consistency for them to take the next step.

And the more I watch Fournette, Bell and other top backs, the mre I want Barkley.
LOTS
Giantslifer : 1/22/2018 12:21 pm : link
Watching game , I'm saying to self - this looks like the EXACT offense & defense GIANTS used under Coughlin.
Not to my surprise , the 4th Q is was EXACTLY Coughlin's offense.
Run up middle 2X , throw pass short of 1st down. PUNT.
He seems to forget there are 3 parts to field - left, right outside and up middle.
Only wants to use middle.
Jags had this game. Chicken shit play calling.!!
