IF Davis WEbb = Nick Foles

dancing blue bear : 1/21/2018 9:07 pm
Would that satisfy you for "QB of the future" ?

So watching this game I have to re-assess my opinion of Foles. He is playing pretty damn well. I remember being impressed with him as a rookie. Then he had a pro bowl Sophmore year, then his career derailed for a variety of reasons. Anyway, he has played pretty well since taking over. Granted this is a solid team to begin with.

I Think it was Sy in his write up had Nick Foles as a comp to Webb. I Wasn't inspired at the time, so that got me thinking.

I guess another way to phrase it (to try to mitigate in fighting)

Is Foles a very good back up?
a quality starter in the league?
Long term solution?
potential multiple pro bowl QB?
I lucky fuck who is gonna turn into a pumpkin at midnight (in 2 weeks)
No

Is having a lifetime game you don’t bet on him doing this consistently.
Don’t reasses things based on one game

Philly is starving to win they have all the momentum at home in front of a ravenous fan base. Minn is deflated. Philly could score 70 at this point and it wouldn’t matter.

How many times has Philly traded away a backup QB for high draft picks and they don’t pan out? I can easily see it happening with Foles here, unfortunately.
Thats a low bar

Would be hillarious if he burns another team after what happened with the rams
I've always been a fan of Nick Foles,

but I'm also a fan of golf. I think Foles may be like a talented golfer who is really streaky -- and no one understands why, least of all himself. More like Phil Mickelson or Rory McIlroy rather than Nicklaus or Tiger or Jordan Spieth. Yes I'd be happy if Webb is like Foles. He's good enough to manage (or even lead) a team to the Super Bowl, if the play calling respects his strengths and weaknesses.
Foles

has proven he can be a good QB. He had a 27TD to 2 INT season. Is he great? No...but he isn't awful. Webb is a complete unknown. He was a 3rd round QB in a weak QB year. The group that drafted him has been fired. Apparently the entire scouting department is changing the way they grade and draft players. The odds on any QB taken after the 1st round being a Franchise QB is rare. Does it happen? Of course...but we tend to remember the late drafted QBs that succeed and completely forgot all the ones that don't. Why anyone would think he has a better than 10 percent chance to be a Franchise QB is confusing.
It's interesting.Foles, Keenum, and Bortles all might be on the market

How do they compare to Cousins?

I don't think Cousins is that great, but he has made a ton of money, and is likely to get a big contract.

Is he much better than the 3 that made the championship game?

Not sure of Foles contract, but it would be fitting if they traded him again for a decent pick. Philthy
It’s not so much about performance,
Section331 : 1/21/2018 9:23 pm : link
as guys can get hot, but Foles has shown me a lot tonight. He’s made some really tough throws under pressure. I’m not saying I want him as the Giants QB, but teams could do a lot worse.
The guy went to a Pro Bowl under Chip Kelly
Thunderstruck27 : 1/21/2018 9:31 pm : link
I'd be happy to have any QB that can do that.
If you are really going to ask that question,
barens : 1/21/2018 9:43 pm : link
then my answer would be, it's a fucking insult to compare Davis Webb To Foles, and yes, Foles is an average quarterback. Webb hasn't shown anything that says he can be an NFL QB at this point, how hard is that to understand? There is a reason he was picked in the bottom half of the first round, because he had a lot of warts to his game.
A Good NFL QB is developed

Brady was a sixth ROUND draft pick. This is not mentioned by the people who think that you MUST TAKE A FRANCHISE QB in the first round. These QBs you are looking at are all COLLEGE QBS. You never know how well any college QB will transition to the NFL. There is no reason given by anyone that proves that Webb cannot be a successful QB in the NFL other than he was not taken in the first Round or the Pundits did not rank him that high. That is all meaningless. He has the size, the arm strength the dedication, intelligence and enough mobility to win. Like all QBs he cannot win behind a SHIT HOLE O-line and no feared running game. He played briefly in the pre-season and played well. And for those of you who think Eli is done you will be embarrassed to admit otherwise next season. The Problem for Eli was McAdoo who is now GONE. Shurmur will be at the senior bowl scouting for the Giants. Some reporter on the field thinks he will be scouting Mayfield and Allen. Most teams already know pretty much all they need to know about those two. I think he will be scouting O-lineman and RBs. That is what this team sorely LACKS and needs badly.
Hmmm....

Foles has looked pretty good this game, and previous starts. I haven't seen Webb play a quarter....let alone start any real games yet.

Nuff said.
I think Webb is clearly better than Foles
King Quis : 1/21/2018 11:23 pm : link
He did really well at Cal when it was him and a bunch of non NFL wide receivers. People forget all the wide outs left with Goff.
