Full Press Coverage says Sam Darnold is Eli 2.0.........

sxdxca : 1/21/2018 9:47 pm
I'll post the links below...

One from Giants wire , and the other from full press coverage.

In one of the articles our very own Chad Wheeler , who went to USC said that Darnold is Eli 2.0....

"In terms of personality and demeanor, Darnold is comparable to Manning. Darnold’s work ethic and off-the-field behavior are a definite plus. He has the ability to command a huddle and be a positive force in the locker room. In addition, Darnold’s teammates love him."

"In public, Darnold is stoic to the point where it is virtually impossible to tell what he is thinking. Offensive lineman Chad Wheeler, one of Darnold’s former USC teammates, nicknamed him Eli 2.0. While not the best quarterback in the draft in terms of mechanics, Darnold is the most Giants-like. These qualities would serve him well playing in the nation’s largest media market."

We don't get this opportunity every year. Lets get this guy , and be a contender for the next 15 years....

Your thoughts?

Darnold to Giants - ( New Window )
He’s my top pick

Really hope he’s there and he’s the pick.

What do you see in him comparable to Eli?

I see a player who plays a lot faster than Eli , but maybe his personality is similar?

Works for me
I would not be opposed

I did read one scouting report on him the other day that said he's the perfect west coast QB, and that if he goes to a system that runs that he has a chance to be incredibly good because (at least according to this report) it maximizes his strengths and minimizes his weaknesses.

But that's just that one report and it's just some website. I have no idea and can't to pretend to have the slightest clue on how to figure out what makes a QB bust and what doesn't.
Eli

Is not the QB these guys should be being compared to its Peyton both Darnold and Rosen have much better arms and physical tools then Eli ever had.

He seems to have that same intangible "it" factor - he looks like a guy who can handle an environment like this. I see a lot of Eli in the sense that he'll look brilliant and then every now and then, make a throw that baffles you.

A flawed prospect, but still a pretty darn good one - I wouldn't be mad at all if he was the guy. He has a lot of good qualities. I think he can handle the spotlight and thrive.
I could easily see Gettleman, Shurmur, Mara
CT Charlie : 1/21/2018 10:03 pm : link
and anyone else in the loop arguing in circles right up to the final hours about who our pick should be. This article persuades me that Mara might win a lobbying effort for Darnold by playing the "owner of the franchise says we draft face of the franchise" card. Me, I think Webb might easily fill the role, and we might be better off with Barkley or Chubb.

Shurmur is bringing a West Coast offense with him. It’s the Power Spread version, but a West Coast Offense.

Webb isn't the answer. He's a backup qb.

How in the world do you know That?

Don't be surprised when he is starting at some point next year
So then if the Giants draft Darnold,
Mr. Bungle : 1/21/2018 10:47 pm : link
who will be dep 2.0?

What? Lol

A. Eli had a stronger arm than Peyton

B. Eli is faster than Peyton

Peyton is the best QB to ever play the game but Eli had him beat on "physical tools" though Peytons mechanics are unparalleled

Rosen is not physically superior to either of them, in fact looks a lot like a young Eli physically.. and neither of those rookies are even close to the prospects that Peyton and Eli were, neither of them do anything as well as the Mannings
Stop it with this Webb nonsense already.
Optimus-NY : 1/21/2018 11:34 pm : link
He's nowhere near being the prospect that Darnold/Rosen/Allen are. You HAVE to draft the franchise QB this high and let the chips fall where they may. Some of you people no nothing about football.

Point B: Does it matter if they are both slow?

Faster? You must mean his legs, because Darnold's mind definitely isn't faster than Eli's.

He does have that Brett Favre-esque hero ball mentality that young Eli had, leading them to be reckless with the ball at times.. except Eli was better at it and just better all around

Anymore when Eli forces something it's out of desperation and necessity because he's constantly in the most fucked situations
I see Darnold as a very athletic Eli
Jay on the Island : 1/22/2018 9:15 am : link
from his work ethic to ball security issues.
I see more of Matthew Stafford
GuzzaBlue : 1/22/2018 9:54 am : link
in Darnold. Especially his ability to dance out of trouble like Stafford does.

So will the next guy if we don’t give them snaps.

Need to unload Eli and move along with rebuilding this offense...
