NFT: Knicks Chat: Horrendous performance

DanMetroMan : 1/22/2018 7:43 am
-Awful performance by the Knicks. The Lakers did not even have Lonzo. THjr made comments after the game talking up how well the Lakers are coached and prepared and how the Knicks were not prepared... many are taking them as shots at Hornacek.

Around the league-

RHJ 21, 8 and 7
Kyle Anderson 10 points, 8 rebounds 3 assists 5 steals 3 blocks
Im confused why

Frank scored 7 points on 3-3 shooting in 11 first half minutes and only played 7 second half minutes

Because it was Ron bakers turn to play 4th quarter minutes
We need to go full retard/tank at this point. Hotny
Jim in Hoboken : 1/22/2018 8:17 am : link
serves that purpose well. We dont need that little surge typically seen with a coaching change, which would knock us out of the lottery.

Somebody needs to tell him whom to play though. Perry needs to trade all the vets so he doesnt have a choice.

We need players, period. Most of our vets doing well are cast-offs around the league who accumulate stats on bad teams. They are not part of the future and need to go.
It is sad that hornacek
nygiants16 : 1/22/2018 8:17 am : link
Can not just stick to his rotation or even have a normal rotation, he plays 11 guys every night...

It is like he refuses to bench Thomas or baker, he always needs to give them minutes...

Hardaway gets hot in the first quarter ok take him out and bring in lance...

Hardaway gets hot in the 3rx ok take him out...

And someone explain to me what Ron baker has done to deserve 4th quarter minutes?
Of the vets I would keep jack and Beasley around
nygiants16 : 1/22/2018 8:20 am : link
Beasley could easily be a good bench scorer you need when the offense is not working on a given night..

Jack is a good vet in the locker room and could be a good 3rd point guard...

Everyone else get rid of, lee takes some of the worse shots I have ever seen..

I wouldn't mind keeping oquinn but I have a feeling someone is going to give him a stupid contract..

Might as well trade kanter, hornacek doesn't play him in the 4th anyway..

You pretty much have to trade Beasley. Hes on a one year deal.

Disconnect
Pete44 : 1/22/2018 9:25 am : link
There is a major problem with the Knicks that Hornacek is coaching for his job and playing Jack, Thomas and O'Quinn, while the Knicks would be better served playing Frank, Burke, Willy and any other young player.

Hornacek needs to be fired like yesterday. Need to replace him with someone who will stop the insanity and play the kids.
I'm certainly not blaming Timmy for his injury

Hes on a minimum deal and they dont have his Bird rights. They can only give him a 20% raise under cap rules. Hes likely to fetch far more than that in free agency.

If they open some space up via trades this year they could re-sign him with that money. Or use the mid-level exception. But is that the best use of cap room for a rebuilding team?

You don't have the mid level exception if you have cap space...

How much money do you think he is going to get? He is a guy who would of been out of the league if the knicks didn't sign him, he is not fetching some big deal...
Knicks have nothing of value to trade
Vanzetti : 1/22/2018 10:29 am : link
Lee and Kanter might have some value but nobody is taking on those contracts.

If a playoff team loses its PG, the Knicks might be able to get a second for Jack. Maybe Beasley could net a second.

But most likely there will bo no or little interest in any available Knicks

Kanter is an expiring contract and Lee has a great value deal...

Timothy mosgov once got 2 1st round picks at the deadline..

I can tell THjr has already tuned out Hornacek
Canton : 1/22/2018 10:37 am : link
In the win against Brooklyn I believe..

Their was two minutes left and we were up like ten points. You see Hornacek coaching up THjr, t and THjr puts his hand up in front of both of them, with a perturbed look on his face.

I think they know the writing is on the wall.

Lee has enough value to a playoff team that someone will take on the deal. Thats where the Knicks take on a bad 2 year in exchange for more assets
Forget 4th Q minutes
Matt M. : 1/22/2018 10:38 am : link
Why does Baker get any minutes? What, last season warranted re-signing Baker in the first place? G-d this is such a dysfunctional franchise. Now, we need another new coach?

but KP has to do better than a 2 rebound game followed up by a 4 rebound game. He's 7'3

Still don't know why Jack is getting so many minutes? For what? I liked when Jeff had Burke at the 1 and Frank at the 2. I'd like to see that more often.

KP was a solid rebounder when Robin Lopez was here.
bceagle05 : 1/22/2018 2:36 pm : link
Does he really miss him that much? Or did he just get a little lazy with that aspect of his game? Tough to play him at the five for extended stretches if he doesn't improve in that area.

Kp is really a dumb player, he has no court awareness whatsoever, rebounding is all about positioning and reading the ball off the rim..

That's because Lopez actually boxed out. Something that KP isn't interested in doing or still hasn't developed the strength to do it consistently.

Mark Jackson Will Be Coach in 2018-19
TheVette : 1/22/2018 3:37 pm : link
Just a feeling - Hornacek is not doing a horrible job, but I do question his rotations, his continued lack of playing Hermangomez (what they have done to this kid this year is ridiculous), and the team's general lax approach.

Keys at the deadline are to trade Lee, O'Quinn, and Kanter. Open up some cap space, find their way into the lottery, and then start anew. Hornacek is simply a guy "for now", but I do not see him as the guy when this team starts signing FAs, and becoming more competitive.

flawed but there isn't a single team in the NBA that is this mediocre that develops Willy as they have given his rookie season. I fully acknowledge the flaws but 21-26 teams don't plant a 2nd year player coming off a first team NBA All-rookie first team.

Months of discord centering on elements of treatment, rehabilitation and timetables for return from a right quadriceps injury have had a chilling impact on San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard's relationship with the franchise and coaching staff, league sources told ESPN.

Under president and coach Gregg Popovich and general manager RC Buford, the Spurs have a two-decades-long history of strong relationships with star players, but multiple sources describe Leonard and his camp as "distant" and "disconnected" from the organization.

Beyond the current rehab for the injury that has caused Leonard, an All-NBA forward, to miss most of the regular season, there is work to be done to repair what has been until now a successful partnership.

In an interview with ESPN, Buford rejected the reporting of turbulence between the franchise and Leonard.

I'm all for improved rebounding but is there a reason to give him extended stretches at center? I thought his size and ball skills made him an impossible matchup at PF?

Honest question - how much does that improve the team's future? I'm not sure it moves the needle much. It's not as if the Bucks were thriving with him, and they have a better supporting cast than the Knicks do.

Honestly? Tough to say but he's only a few months older than KP and legit MVP caliber player. I don't think Frank would stop me from pulling the trigger given his likely upside. It doesn't change a ton (though I suspect GF has more "star pull" around the league than KP).
