Teams that may be in the market or are looking for a new qb

superspynyg : 1/22/2018 12:05 pm
who is out there.

Teams that need a new qb
Cleveland
Arizona
Denver
Jets

Teams that may be in search for a new qb
Giants
Washington
Jacksonville
Buffalo (made playoffs with Taylor)

Qbs that are available for trade or as a FA
Cousins
Smith
McCown
Bortles

Top Draft qbs
Darnold
Rosen
Mayfield
Allen
Rudolph

Here is what I think will happen

Washington (picks 13) will finally sign Cousins to long term deal. They pick 13 and would have to trade up to get a top qb. My only caveat is does Wash make a play for Alex Smith?? I think this is a long shot.

Jets(pick 6)will resign McCown for 1 year and draft a qb in rd 1. They will have a shot at one of the top 4 qbs and let McCown mentor him next year.

Denver (pick5) will draft a qb They are looking hard at the top qbs and will draft 1. I think they like Mayfield. Or do they take Rosen if he falls?

Arizona (pick 15) will either trade for Alex Smith or sign him if he is released by KC (trade is more likely).

Jacksonville(Pick 29) will pick up the 5th year option on Bortles. He took them to the AFC champ game that will get him 1 more year.

Buffalo(picks 21 and 22) They will draft a qb. Although they may be in the Cousins market or fight it out with the Cards for Smith.

Cleveland(pick 1 and 4) will draft a qb. Not sure who but they are high on Darnold and Allen.

Giants (pick 2) I think will go 1 of 2 routes. Draft Rosen at 2 or draft Rudolph later in the draft and let him and Webb battle it out for a year or two behind Eli next year.

Wild cards for qbs are Pats(someone for the future) Saints same as the Patriots.

I know none of this is earth shattering just my opinion.

I really hope
Jay on the Island : 1/22/2018 12:07 pm : link
that the Redskins sign Cousins to a massive deal. He is a good QB but certainly not a franchise QB that will ever win the SB.
I’d move Buffalo into the first category,

Taylor is a FA, and I don’t think BUFF tries to resign him. I also wouldn’t be so sure about DC resigning Cousins, I think there is a lot of bad blood there, and Cousins may just want to move on. DC would be insane to franchise Cousins again and pay him $34 mill.
Rudolph?

This whole idea that we draft a guy to battle it out with Webb is poor thinking at best. If Webb beats him out then we wasted a high pick on a guy who will sit the whole year as a 3rd option at QB (i.e. just like Webb this year) as Eli is likely to make it through the season (health wise).

I think the Giants know that Eli has some stuff left in the tank. That they can do what Denver did with Elway (late in his career) and Manning late in his career and that is get a run game and a solid defense.

I bet gmen trade down slightly in rd 1 and grab a pass rusher. They use extra picks in 2-4 to get multiple Olinemen. They work like crazy with Webb!

One major piece that NONE of us knows is what did Shurmur think of Webb coming out of college. If he liked Webb then, he is probably looking forward to working with him now. It may have been something discussed in interviews.

Either way I think too many people are saying QB at 2 regardless and that may not be at all what the Giants are thinking.
Id be very surprised if the Jags

move on from Bortles...

That Indianapolis is in the market for a QB too. Luck just can’t stay healthy.
Add Keenum and Bridgwater to the list

Geno!
And Bradford

Only 1 of he 3 stay in Minny.

1 is oft-injuried, 1 knee is TBD, the other is INC grade for the long haul.

currently the #1 slated UFA at QB...anything can happen.
Browns go FA
Chocco : 1/22/2018 12:34 pm : link
It wouldn't surprise me to see the Browns make a serious run at Cousins,Keenum or Smith. They have plenty of money to do it. They also have drafted a QB in the first 3 rounds in 4 of the last 6 drafts ( 3 in the last 4) including 2 first rounders.

It's not often that you can find the number of quality FA starting QBs as this year. They have picks to help build a supporting cast including Barkley. If it doesn't work out they will be drafting in first couple spots next year anyway.
Foles
Arkbach : 1/22/2018 12:41 pm : link
How can you leave him off the list of available QBs? I know he's under contract for 2018, but the Eagles will trade him for a #1.

Wentz won't be back until mid season next year. Foles will have to start.
Wentz
Arkbach : 1/22/2018 12:56 pm : link
I didn't realize his injury was that bad. I presumed he'd be back by camp making Foles an asset for sale.
Should the Jets take a QB
prh : 1/22/2018 1:06 pm : link
With the pick 6?
I highly doubt Cousins will be a Redskin for the 2018
ZogZerg : 1/22/2018 1:17 pm : link
Season. He wants out and the redskins will not pay him.
The problem isn’t the severity
Jolly Blue Giant : 1/22/2018 1:39 pm : link
Of Wentz injury, it’s the fact that it happened so late in the season.

Agreed! This is one team that will be closely watched by everyone else. 3 QBs, all FA and each have had some success and some disappointments. It will be interesting.
I want

The QB of the future and with the second pick I cannot see the Giants letting this opportunity pass them by, but we still do have Eli who can still win and may even be ready for a big season, McAdoo was a disaster, let's not ever forget that when we are evaluating Eli, he is the best chance for us to win another ring next season or for the next 2 or 3 years, so I am not worried short term at all, and the Giants are in position to lock up what could be a long term solution at the one position that is by far the most important position on the field. Fun times could be returning.

It is all predicated on believing one of these QB's is that good. They have some serious dull to their finishes right now. Rosen could be an injury disaster. Darnold could be descending in play and Allen is very unproven and will need coaching.

Mayfield is the only QB who really seems ready to come in and play but his size and off the field stuff will have some worried.

I am not saying don't do it but I don't think it is the slam dunk many of you think.
It’s a Dr J

slam dunk.
Didn't read through every comment,
NYG07 : 1/22/2018 5:38 pm : link
but I live in Denver and they are gearing up for a run at Cousins from what I hear. He may price himself out of their range though.
It's a really high-stakes Welcome-to-New York draft

for Gettleman and Shurmur, isn't it?
