They played possibly their two best offensive games of the year in the conference championship and Super Bowl without him.
We just saw how vital he isn't.
First off, Wentz is a major reason they got there. Secondly, he's vital to that organization. At the end of the day, it's a business. Wentz is the face of the franchise and he's just a baby. It would be beyond stupid to even consider and every single player on that team would be furious and would change the whole dynamic of the lockerroom. This isn't madden 2018.
Foles got hot. If he was the starting QB from day 1, they likely are a wild card team at best. They won the Superbowl in major part because Wentz put them in a position to have 2 home games to get to the Superbowl and get hot at the right time.
once something happens once all teams should strive to make it the new norm. He throws out all other factors, including how rare and lucky something can be/is. He then suggests that all GMs should approach their franchise in the same fashion. It’s remarkable really.
Carson Wentz was likely going to win league MVP if he hadn't been injured.
I can't believe people are getting fooled by Foles again after 2013.
He's a good, serviceable QB, who did an excellent job when given the chance. But we've seen this movie before.
Don't forget that in the final game of the regular season, the Eagles were shut out by Dallas - Foles completed just 4 passes for 39 yards before he took a seat.
So yes, it's a crazy thought - and no, Wentz isn't going anywhere. He is the starter the second he's healthy.
The Eagles would be wise to hang onto Foles for next year as insurance. His contract is a bargain for one more year. Wentz may not be ready to start the season anyway.
trade Wentz, roll with Foles, then trade up and try to land another QB since he would advocate not paying for Foles (which I would agree with). Basically keep trying to strike gold and get lucky, sounds like a good strategy.
Then if I’m the Eagles I trade Foles to a team without an established QB. Even after this offseason there will be teams who need a QB. And the Eagles can name their price.

I get it, but most of those teams will already have their QB via draft or FA. They are better off holding him and letting Wentz ease back in, and have Foles rostered in case there is a big injury to a playoff team mid season.

Why is that so hard? Just get the best coach of all time, then draft the best QB of all time. When he’s up for his next contract, you’ll probably want to trade him, well, have the vision that he will be the best of all time and keep him. That will allow you to trade every other great player when it’s time to pay them. Sit back, never pay anyone and watch the wins roll in! Not that hard.

The only thing worse on here than the trolls are the sincere posters who you wish were trolling, just for their own sake.
If the Browns called and offered their first round picks for Wentz, would you take it?
I think I might do that if I were the Eagles. Every player has a price.
I don't know that I would do it.
Because that means one of two things are true:
1. Nick Foles is who you're committing to going forward
or..
2. You're going to use one of those picks on a QB that may well not be nearly as good as Wentz
Having a good, young, ascending QB on a rookie contract is basically the holy grail of the NFL. Why trade it away once you have it?
You're right that pretty much anyone has a price at some point. But if it's me, I actually don't think I'd do it although it'd be tempting to draft Chubb + one of these QB's.
Stop looking at this run and thinking anyone can do it. Wentz was an mvp candidate who is what, 24? It would be beyond stupid. There’s a better chance both of those picks are busts as opposed to even one coming close to wentz.
I think maybe the game has changed a bit from where it was even five years ago and that the pieces around a QB make it a bit easier for an average talent to thrive at the position.
If the Jaguars called and offered their next three firsts, I’d say no. But two top five picks is absurdly tempting.
You have a winner, don’t split it in the hope you pull 2 more 10’s. Keep the winner!
You hope wentz turns into the next Rodgers, Peyton, Brady...he’s certainly off to a good start. Imagine they were traded in their second year. It’s actually an absurd thought.
Basically when you hit on a young QB, you have a window where you can really maximize the ceiling of your team.
A few examples being... SEA before Wilson got his new deal. What you saw with LAR this year and Goff. Wentz, obviously. What HOU could have been with Watson. IND with Luck a few years ago.
So, I think if you're the Eagles, you're in a spot where you can really have a few great years here. They've already got this Super Bowl. If they play their cards right, they can get back.
Obviously we all hope that won't happen - but it can.
And I'm not suggesting not paying a QB if they're proven and due a new deal. It's just much easier to build your team when you have a QB performing at a high level on a lower salary at the most important position in the sport.
A franchise qb can make up for some holes, but if you don’t have one, you better have a special supporting cast. Not to mention, franchise qb’s are built for sustained success, not a one hit wonder.

Nobody is going to give up much for Foles. It's been proven he's only any good when he's in Philly.

He’s under team control for 3 more years, while Foles will be due next year. For someone who is always moaning about paying players, you want to trade Wentz to pay Foles? Umm, OK?
Two picks in the top 4 of THIS draftvthat you can draft a QB to compete as well as either Barkley, Nelson, Fitzpatrick etc. That is two much to pass up IMO. Yes, you dont trade away franchise QBs. But one just won you the Super Bowl.

They know what they have in Wentz, there's NO guarantee they would be so lucky again.
All that being said, yeah, I think it would start at (3) 1sts.

You truly don't believe this right?
Foles
Goff
Keenum
All played significantly better without Fisher in their life.

I would too - but I do think Foles has a lot of value to PHI next year specifically with Wentz returning from injury.
If for any reason he has a setback, gets re-injured, or just struggles or isn't himself, they'll want to be able to go back to Foles.
2nd rd pick or better, I'd take it. 3rd I'd have to think about it. Anything beyond that, I'd probably turn down.

Both 1sts?! In this draft? After just winning it all 24 hours ago?
Youd be an idiot not to consider it.
