Sorry, this dude kind of sucks. Had few pretty tough runs, but got moved to H-back halfway through the season, then basically quit saying he was going to transfer.
Lost his job to freshmen.
I still remember reading his draft profile in some draft magazine I had while I was in college and I remember circling his name just because of 1.) Name 2.) height/weight 3.) 40 time
Turns out we drafted him in the most resourceful draft of our lifetimes 2005 where with only 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th round picks turned into 3 2 time supebowl champs including BJ . And a solid DE prospect in round 6 who never stuck around with us.
but the simple fact is, he was too tall for the position. Guys would try to tackle him low, and he couldn't protect himself as well as a short RB would. So the knee damage became more pronounced as time went on.
If there's a Craig Heyward type out there, we can talk about this.

I'd take BJ over anyone on the current roster! Who cares how tall he is, the dude could create.
8 years with the GMen, two Super Bowl rings, over 5000 career yards. I'd take him (BJ), not the person profiled.

Dating yourself lol. He was the same Year as I was. When we played Passaic first play he ran 80 yards. And was close to the biggest guy on both teams. Think he was like 230. Out Jr year. No many like him. Got too heavy in the pros IMO
it was almost a sure thing that the Giants were going to get a running back in the 2005 NFL Draft, to solve their short-yardage problem. When the 4th round came, it was very likely the Giants were targeting Marion Barber III. The Cowboys jumped one pick ahead of the Giants and took Barber... the Giants got Jacobs. Jacobs never developed into a short-yardage back.
I don't think Barber would have been a bad choice at all and he was a much better short-yardage back, but Jacobs was a great addition and arrived at the right time.

But didn't Warren "The Scumbag" Sapp name him the "Tip Toe Burglar?"
He was amazing when he got outside, you could see the fear in the DB's eyes through the TV.
Unfortunately, I was always amazed by how many times he came up short on 3rd & 1

Selective memory. Everyone remembers the ones he didn't make. The reason is he made so many of them that the ones not made stick in memory. He was among the league leaders in 3rd and short more than one year.
Man, when we had Jacobs, Ward and Bradshaw, what a 3 headed monster.
Ray Lewis' low hit in the game we put 230+ rushing yards on them in 2008 was the reason for that chronic knee injury.
Lewis always complained that Eddie George avoided him, but Jacobs never did. So Ray, the scumbag murderer, decides to go cheap.
He wasn't wrong about Eddie George. He took a couple good licks in that 2001 divisional game against BAL and folded up like a cheap suit. He didn't want to get hit anymore after that.

Brandon Jacobs he is not.

His pass blocking was a thing of beauty. You could see some blitzers hesitate when they saw him and knew they were about to get crushed.
Anyway, his greatest moment had to be tuning up Woodson in that Green Bay playoff game, right?
His endzone dances were pretty darn good too!!!!!
I used to say that Jacobs ran like a garbage truck that just lost its brakes on a steep hill lol

It's also not necessarily what the doctor ordered right now.
We need 0 to 100 instant burst start. Gets to the edge every time. Finds crease in line.
Excellent screen, wheel route etc receiver.
Probably low center of gravity type. Makes first defender miss type.

That Ravens defense was vicious.
