One name to watch for Colts head coaching job: Eagles OC Frank Reich. He’s one of the candidates on a short list and they’re expected to put in an interview request, sources tell @MikeGarafolo and me. Was an assistant in Indy from 2008-11.

Reich has absolutely emerged as a strong candidate in Indy. On a very short list.

If Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich were to get Colts job, then perhaps Eagles promote QB coach John DeFilippo to offensive coordinator and he's out as Vikings possibility.

This is how McDaniels’ bolting Colts could affect Giants OC decision. If Reich leaves Philly, Flip could bump up instead of going to Vikings. That would affect Stefanski, which affects Giants.

An obvious candidate for the Colts now is Eagles OC Frank Reich. Coached with Colts from 2008-11. Has same agent as GM Chris Ballard. And did a heck of a job with Wentz, Foles and the Eagles offense this year

I feel terrible for Chris Ballard who shares an agent with Josh McDaniels
Bob Lamonte represents Chris Ballard and Josh McDaniels

Al Golden, last year's TEs coach, is moving to LBs coach. And David Corrao is joining the team as Ernie Adams, I mean, director of football research

Lions announce Paul Pasqualoni as defensive coordinator, Jeff Davidson to coach offensive line, Al Golden moving to linebackers, George Godsey moving to quarterbacks and Brian Stewart and Chris White coming aboard to coach defensive backs and tight ends, respectively.

Ballard said "had an agreement in place" with McDaniels. Had agreed to terms. Then got call Tues night he was going in different direction

Ballard has not taken questions yet, but there was no fully signed contract I'm told. They did have a term sheet agreed to

Ballard on whether he pressed McDaniels for reasons: "Either you're in or you're out. I didn't want the explanation."

Ballard says because of the playoffs they couldn't talk to certain coaches yet. Will start that process now

This is the most pissed-off I've seen Chris Ballard. I mean, he's being totally professional, but you can tell he's freaking fuming.

As we’ve said this morning, Ballard says none of the initial interviews are still in the mix. So Kris Richard and Matt Rhule are out.

How about this? The last thing Chris Ballard says as he finishes his presser:
"The rivalry is back on."
+1.
Reich: backup to Kelly..groomed under Levy...made a QB out of Flacco..made a QB out of Cole's. I think his drawback is hes a little bit of a Dick on personal relationships but smart.
If he gets the job you Terps fans should be happy.
Reich is still under contract so he is not leaving Philly for a lateral position or a demotion. His name was talked about for head coaching vacancies, but was always in the next tier with guys like Steve Wilks behind Shurmur and the New England coordinators
Totally agree........now all of a sudden he maybe gets his break.
Probably better with him, than McDaniel as many have already said.

Yes this could really hurt the Giants. As they might miss out on their top two choices now DeFilippo and Stefanski.
This might actually work out for the Colts. I was never a fan of McDaniels but Reich is very intriguing.

A nice ploy to get juice back into a seemingly deflated fan base.
I dont think its permission as much as its league rules require notification/courtesy documentation sent to the impacted team of any coach currently under contract. The Eagles can't block it since it would be a promotion.

Hearing Dan Campbell and Frank Reich are the two top candidates on Colts radar. One or two more could materialize

I had mentioned Dan Campbell last night as someone who could be on the Colts radar because DeGuglielmo and the DC they hired both have ties to organizations that Campbell played or coached for so he might be willing to accept the head coaching position knowing that they are already in place

So Colts’ HC interview schedule for now:
Saints’ asst HC Dan Campbell interviews for job Thursday.
Eagles’ OC Frank Reich interviews for job Friday.
Nah, its not a trend. Teams have been 'waiting' for OCs and DCs for years.. this was the first time its happened.
