#Clippers and #Cavs spent last night engaged in serious trade talks revolving DeAndre Jordan, per league source. Should a deal get done however, Clips are insisting it include the #Nets pick (which Dan Gilbert doesn't want to surrender). I'm told only the Cavs pick is on table.

they got a first rounder and cleared the way for LeBron to join

Solid trade for CLE...
Italianju : 2/8/2018 12:24 pm : link
they cant wait around hoping that IT looks like IT at some point this year. The lakers just salary dumping all depends on FA. They just traded two descent young players for the 28th pick in the draft.

Someone is going to get a steal with IT this summer. He is a good player who is playing on injured legs. He should be much closer to himself next year and between the injury and how he has played nobody is going to offer him big money.
Great trade idea

Lee to Cleveland for shump and osman is shump and future 2nd
Cleveland really likes Osman
Keith : 2/8/2018 12:36 pm : link
I don't see him as a throw in. Seems like his role is increasing and they think he has real potential. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see them moving Osman, especially as a throw in. hitdog could probably speak more about it....
Yeah I think they keep Osman, too.
bceagle05 : 2/8/2018 12:38 pm : link
They're clearly planning a bit for Lebron's departure. Brooklyn pick, Osman, Clarkson, Nance - it's something at least.
Trade
Pete44 : 2/8/2018 12:39 pm : link
The only part of the trade that was curious was Cleveland throwing in a first rounder as the Lakers badly wanted to unload Clarkson's contract.

They'll really need to hit a home run on that Brooklyn pick if they keep love around, otherwise they'll be toiling in the teens and be behind on a full rebuild.

They'll basically be the Knicks.
Should be some legit talent at the top of this draft.
Keith : 2/8/2018 12:41 pm : link
Not sure what kind of value love has anymore, but I'd move him the first chance I got this offseason.
Yeah they might as well trade Love in the next year, if Lebron leaves.
bceagle05 : 2/8/2018 12:43 pm : link
Funny watching these teams build and rebuild over and over again while the Knicks are still trying to get it right ONCE.

The Knicks have a terrible combination of poor decision making and bad luck.

This is really the first time the Knicks have even somewhat attempted a true rebuild.

lol, its sad isnt it. Thats what happens when you rarely draft at the top of the draft. We all say it all the time, the worst place to be is mediocre. We consistently draft in the 8-13 range. The one time we draft early, we get our unicorn, but we need 2 more of those in the next 2 years.

Not really true. They've been trying to rebuild for 15 years, just trying the quick fix route. The only other time they tried to rebuild over a few years was the Walsh years. For years we focused on removing salaries so that we could make a run for Lebron. If only Walsh wasn't in that damn wheel chair.

If they did it after the 2000 team was done, maybe we'd have a title.

They'll probably be in a position to pick top 10 next year as well, probably top 5. If they can add say Bagley and Reddish, we're there.

Hence the phrase a "true rebuild".

They've tried to quick rebuild with vets and going after big fish in free agency, but never a true rip it down to the foundation rebuild.
Good pt
Keith : 2/8/2018 12:56 pm : link
my bad.
And the jury's out a bit on this being a true rebuild.

To be fair though, Phil made that impossible with his little spending spree last summer.

Utah will also send Joe Johnson to Sacramento, and Cleveland will send Jae Crowder and Derek Rose to Utah, league sources tell ESPN. Sacramento sends George Hill to the Cavs.

IT, Frye, Shump, Crowder, Rose, Wade.

This is fun
And they got back
bceagle05 : 2/8/2018 1:10 pm : link
Hood, Hill, Nance and Clarkson. Yes, they sacrificed their first rounder, but it's an absolute heist. Great, great work by Altman.

The Cavs getting all these guys increases the likely hood of a Lee deal I would think.
Hood
Pete44 : 2/8/2018 1:12 pm : link
Still don't understand how they got him so cheap.
First reaction is the Cavs roster looks a lot better
Eric on Li : 2/8/2018 1:12 pm : link
Hill seems like a really good fit as a combo guard who doesn't need to be dominant on the ball, also supposedly a good lockerroom guy. Hood can score and defend. Nance gives them another athlete who can defend in the front court.

+1

He's the one guy that isn't them taking on big salary obligations.
Cavs could still use some interior muscle.

Miami will send a heavily protected second-round pick to Cleveland for Wade, league sources tell ESPN.
I have to assume Wade wanted to go back home...

rumors that his wife had a miscarriage. I doubt they trade LeBron's best friend for a 2nd round pick otherwise.
Toronto and Boston will probably respond now.

There is nothing they can really do as the difference maker in all this is still Lebron. He is the best player in the world and if these guys compliment him better, they will win the East.
I cannot believe

Jazz gave up hood for essentially nothing. I have to think they would have taken willy for hood straight up. Why not take a chance on hood? I know he is restricted but I think he has tremendous upside on both sides of the ball.
