NFT: Need new smart phone. Will they negotiate the total costs?

Dave in Buffalo : 2/8/2018 9:20 am
Looking for a new smart phone, largely for work. Verizon has $200 off the new Note 8. I haven't been in the market for over three years. I'm a social worker so the stylus and note feature of the Note8 look pretty handy, but I welcome other's opinions. Will the major carriers negotiate? Any tips on how to do it? Every little bit helps.

Thanks in advance!
Few things

I had the Note 4 for almost 4 years. Loved it. The stylus was cool to use for about a month then I never really used it again.

As far as the $200 off, please check the fine print as it's likely in the form of monthly bill credits over the life of your phone. Totally different in my opinion than a $200 discount when purchasing the phone.
$200 credit

When I turned in a phone, AT&T took $200 directly off the price of the new phone, then spread the net price over 2 years.

Regardless of the carrier, I don't think there's really any negotiating.

to a Moto G5 Plus after my Note 4 finally kicked the bucket after 3.5 years. I choose not to go through Verizon, and just bought the phone outright from Best Buy for $250 bucks and then activated it on verizon. No bill credit / changing plan shenanigans. While it may not be the latest and greatest, it suits my needs fine. Highly recommended.
Ok,

Well my first three cars cost less than I pay for my phone each

month. You could still buy a good used car for $50.00 in the 1970's if you were a good shopper.
