Source: the Giants have waived OT Bobby Hart from injured reserve. His time in New York is officially over.
He’ll have a second career as a turnstile

Move him to guard or cut him loose. He cannot be our LT next year.

Well, Coughlin liked him in the draft and since they are committed to running the ball with Fournette, he may see him as worth a shot at RG or RT for the cost of $2.4M in salary and a 6th or 7th round pick. And maybe the fact that he is a local kid who went to the U will make him more attractive to the Dolphins. He's young and has talent, someone may feel they can light a fire under him and get him to realize his potential. But I don't think the Giants are that team, not when Gettleman considers changing the culture in the locker room as Job#1.

His salary is guaranteed, so ideally they find a team to trade him to, even if it's for a conditional 7th round pick...
...in the year 2525 - ( New Window )

Diehl talked about how Flowers had improved his technique. Talks about the need to finish plays - that's fixable. I'm thinking he's on the OLine next year, either as RT or inside - and he will continue to improve. Will he justify his draft status, probably not but if he can become a consistent, solid NFL performer, that will be good enough, for now.
Should send him out

to work with Slater and Wheeler in off season.
Maybe
Photoguy : 2/9/2018 7:10 pm : link
the new OL coach can get him to where he needs to be. He's still a very young man, and I'd hate to just shitcan the guy only to have him turn up as a top OL for someone else.

I think free agency will determine Flowers future position
Ivan15 : 2/9/2018 7:30 pm : link
with the Giants. Depending upon who they sign, I figure Flowers will be competing at RT or RG. That’s okay as long as he is not at LT.

I expect it will be a competition this time. He won’t be given a spot.

Just like the defensive line and secondary say goodbye to all of them they are not what we hoped they would be. There is nothing wrong with admitting for whatever reasons things did not work out it’s time to move on for the team and the players best interest. Some of these guys could be valuable in trades but most will just need to be given a certificate of appreciation and a hand shake.

FA is not the method to build a lasting group of players the money spent is by all means wasteful. Develope your team thru the draft process two to four years is more than enough to evaluate a young player at reasonable cost. Look at how many players on this present roster you can’t just say goodbye to due to extreme salary overpayments. How can you continue to use a system that is failing year after year. Will every drafted or UDFA pan out NO but you can walk away from each other easily without a bad taste in anyone mouths.

This roster has somewhere between eight and twelve players worthy of coming to off season programs the rest have shown their true value and its mightily lacking. The prime example is Eli everyone wants him gone but due to contract issues, past glory sentiments along with the hope of a few he can somehow find the fountain of youth, this chapter can’t be closed. Eli stands atop the list but he has a congregation of flowers on this highly overrated and overpriced roster. Now is the time to rebuild don’t waste two years of mediocre records and then say now let’s fix the problems.

Agree with you, between him and Apple both top ten picks is a disgrace and an indictment of our management. Lets move on.

He's a 1st round pick. The fourth years for 1st rounders are always guaranteed per the CBA.

That's why they need to trade him. Let Tom Coughlin and the Jaguars pick up his $2.4M in guaranteed salary.
