Around $22M but I expect plenty of cuts to come soon

Coach

Serby NYP: Pat Shurmur vote of confidence from someone who should know
Code:

“You ask Kyle Shurmur what kind of man Giants players and fans are getting in his father.
“Everybody’s getting first off a great man, a great listener,” he said. “A person that knows a lot, has the ability to learn every day and listen to people and take everybody’s perspective into account. I think he’s got enough humility to where he values everybody else’s opinion in the organization. He understands that this is a collective profession. Everybody’s got a piece in the organization.
“I think he understands that this is a player’s game first. At the end of the day, it’s about the players, and he’s doing everything he can to serve the players and let them go, have fun, compete and win ball games.”

NYG released him from IR today.

Q With Erik Flowers' last year (since option not picked up), do you just cut him and start fresh or hope new regime gets something out of him?

Jason_OTC (@Jason_OTC)

Ill have him in my OT cut preview but I think they could try to trade him. The Rams traded Greg Robinson so anything is possible. Both Giants and Flowers are better off without each other IMO

Benoit MMQB: Ranking the NFL's Neediest Teams
Code:

“17. NEW YORK GIANTS (3–13)
FIRST-ROUND DRAFT PICK: 2
PRIMARY NEED: RUNNING BACK
If the Giants fall head over heels for one of this draft’s QBs, fine. But Eli Manning has shown little sign of decline. His poor 2017 should be resolved, partly, by a healthy receiving corps and a revamped system under new coach Pat Shurmur. Any scheme is stronger with a dynamic back, which New York hasn’t had since Ahmad Bradshaw in ’12. Last year’s fourth-round pick, Wayne Gallman, is intriguing, but not enough to build around. Orleans Darkwa, a better pure runner, could test free agency. So could Shane Vereen. If he leaves, the Giants will need a three-down weapon. If Vereen returns, they ought to get a first- and second-down bell cow, which shouldn’t be too expensive.”

Breech CBS Sports: 2018 NFL free agency: NFL teams will be bidding on small crop of offensive linemen
Code:

“Tackles (Listed by Pro Football Focus Ranking)
17. Ja'Wuan James, RT (Dolphins)
24. Cameron Fleming, RT (Patriots)
32. Nate Solder, LT (Patriots)
40. Chris Hubbard, RT (Steelers)
48. Sam Young, RT (Dolphins)
52. Justin Pugh, RT (Giants)
61. Michael Schofield, RT, (Chargers)
“Although James is listed at the top of PFF's rankings, the player to keep an eye on here is Solder and that's because he'll be the best left tackle available when free agency starts. As the top left tackle, there's a good chance Solder is going to be able to command top dollar and if we've learned one thing about Bill Belichick during his time with the Patriots, it's that he generally doesn't like to pay top dollar for anyone.
The other thing to keep in mind here is that the Patriots actually have two offensive tackles who will be free agents. With Cameron Fleming also free to sign with anyone in March, it's almost a guarantee that the Patriots will only make a play for just one of their guys. Fleming is only 25 -- Solder turns 30 in April -- and Belichick loves to use his younger guy as a swing tackle, so it wouldn't be surprising at all to see the Patriots make a play for Fleming.
As for James, the Dolphins right tackle might have graded the highest of any free agent, but he comes with a big injury question mark. The 2014 first-round pick missed the final eight games of the 2017 season after going on injured reserve in November with a hamstring injury. When he's healthy, he generally plays well, but there's no guarantee James can stay healthy. Over the past three season, the right tackle has missed 17 out of a possible 48 regular season games for the Dolphins.”

Guards (Listed by Pro Football Focus Ranking)
3. Andrew Norwell, LG (Panthers)
21. Brandon Fusco, RG (49ers)
22. Josh Kline, RG (Titans)
23. Joe Berger, RG (Vikings)
29. Evan Smith, RG (Buccaneers)
30. Jahri Evans, RG (Packers)
35. Jonathan Cooper, LG (Cowboys)
42. Senio Kelemete, LG (Saints)
47. Tom Compton, T/G (Bears)
49. Matt Slauson, LG (Chargers)
51. Luke Joeckel, LG (Seahawks)
If you're wondering why the Panthers wouldn't just keep Norwell, it's because they already have a boatload of money locked up in their offensive line, with guys  like guard Trai Turner (four-year, $45 million) and left tackle Matt Kalil (five-year, $55.5 million) signed to big contracts.
The Panthers will definitely make him an offer, but it's unlikely they'll be able to match any deal that comes from a franchise that's sitting on a fortune of salary cap space. CBSSports.com's Joel Correy, a former agent, believes Norwell will become the highest paid guard in NFL history.
The guards to keep an eye in this class are the six guys listed after Norwell. All six of those guys would be an immediate starter on almost any team they might sign with. One surprise guy on the list is Jonathan Cooper. You might remember him as the seventh overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. After fizzling out in Arizona (2013-15) and Cleveland (2016), Cooper signed a one-year prove-it contract with the Cowboys in 2017 and had a solid year, starting 13 games for Dallas. He could be an inexpensive upgrade for a team looking to add a guard.
Any team looking for a durable starter should be looking at Brandon Fusco. Although he's not as good as Norwell, he can be successful in the right offense, not to mention, he's been able to stay incredibly healthy over the past few years. Since 2015, Fusco has played in 46 of a possible 48 games.”

Farrar B/R: The NFL's Best Under-the-Radar Free Agents in 2018
Code:

“OG Andrew Norwell
The Carolina Panthers prefer a power run game, and Norwell can handle that. Though he's tall for the position at 6'6", he comes off the snap with good leverage to drive-block defenders out of the way. But his agility and versatility make him special—and why he could be even better on a pass-heavy team.
Norwell is exceptional in pass protection and rarely falls for stunts and other line games. He's also quick to hand off his defender in zone-blocking schemes and is as fast on the move as any guard. Any team with a serious aerial attack and a need for a top-level left guard should back up a Brinks truck to Norwell's house.”

$42.6M payoff for the 1st year.
2-year, $61.2M payoff at the end of 2019.. $10M more than back to back franchise tags

2020: $23.8M base salary; $15.7M injury guarantees.

49ers can basically get out of the deal after 2 years if JGQ isn't legit. Win-win

Christl Packers.com: Packers Hall of Famer John Martinkovic dies
Code:

“Less than two weeks before the 1957 season opener, the Packers traded Martinkovic to the defending NFL champion New York Giants in exchange for what turned out to be a third-round draft pick that the Packers used to select Ray Nitschke.
Martinkovic played one season for the Giants and retired. However, he was exposed to a little known assistant coach named Vince Lombardi that year and knew well what some of his former teammates were in for when the Packers hired Lombardi as head coach before the 1959 season.”

Martinkovic was acquired because Giants DT Rosey Grier was serving a year in the military, with Martinkovic at end, Jim Katcavage moved to DT.

After a 31-17 loss to the Giants in 1957
Giants Coach Jim Lee Howell said:
“Howell also lauded former Packer defensive end John Martinkovic, now playing with the Giants. "Martinkovic had a real good day. As a matter of fact, he's played a couple of great games since he's been with us and in the others he's played good steady ball."

The Packers coach said:
“Blackbourn praised former Packer John Martinkovic for playing "his usual good game." But as Liz pointed out, "I would still trade him to the Giants today. He plays only one position while Massey can play either as a defensive end or a halfback. I'm real satisfied with our defensive ends." Blackbourn said the draft choice he got for Martinkovic would not be one of those picked in the early draft meeting in Philadelphia December 2. And speaking of that draft, Liz said, "I haven't really decided on whom we would go after. I presume our first pick would be a good running back."

It is not guaranteed so we can pull it if he doesn't show he is worth it in 2018.
