after the Giants pick your guy at 2. I don't like any of the QB's at 2 and I also feel like taking one limits the Giants chances of addressing other needs in the later rounds. I am not sold on Barkley but I think you can still improve the O-line with free agency and the draft if you take Barkley, who also makes Eli a better QB for this coming season. That leads to the real question. If you take Barkley at 2 can you get a QB to pair with Webb and develop in round two or three and still make enough improvement in other areas of need. You can say almost the same thing if you want a QB at 2, can you get a good running back in the draft and still address enough other areas of need. You can throw in the maybe scenario of trading down if you like but get me an effective running game and QB for the future. Of course if you don't care about this coming season you can do whatever the hell you like. That is the approach some teams take. So what is your plan for the Giants future, I know some guys on BBI have it all mapped out so make it long if you like.
Rd 3 1st year rotation guy and starter for years
Rd 4 solid rotation guy
Rd 5 good contributor
Rd6 6 good contributor
Isn't that what we kept hearing about Flowers was that he was really young too. Haha, I had to say it.
I had the same mentality as you. I do think Rosen can be that guy but I cannot see myself pulling the trigger on him unless there is a way to predict how he can handle a hit to the head. I know from playing football for 13 years of my life and coaching for almost another 10. It is like a dislocated shoulder. Once you get one you are way more susceptible to more.
With all of that said, the main reason I wanted Shurmur is because of his success with QBs. I am more confident that he can work with a guy like Darnold than if we got a HC like Patricia. Even if Shurmur doesn't bring us the team success that we hope he does, the bare minimum is to set up our future by developing a QB. Whether that is a draft pick 2nd overall, a QB later in the draft, or Webb, I think that needs to be a main goal of this coaching staff and management.
Will Hernandez OG
Holton Hill CB
Quinton Blanding FS
Cedric Wilson WR
5th and 6th round depth
Free Agency
Andrew Norwell OG
Jeremy Attachou OLB
Zac Brown OLB
Same last name, must be the same player!!
It is doubtful that Cleveland thinks Kizer is a franchise QB any more than the Giants think Webb is.
So do you wait for your second choice to fall to you or do you try to ensure that you get your first choice?
Positionally, focus in on LB, OL, RB and FS
RB Saquon Barkley 1st
EDGE Arden Key 2nd
CB Mike Hughes 3rd
WR DJ Chark 4th
DL Trenton Thompson 4th
OL Desmond Harrison 5th
RB Martez Carter 6th
Re-sign Cockrell, Pugh and Fluker. Bring in Norwell and Zach Brown. Replace Wing and Rosas. Cut Harris, Marshall, Jerry and maybe DRC. Extend one of Beckham or Collins, whichever one has the most reasonable price... that way you can tag one next off-season if you have too... you don't want to go into the season with two studs playing on expiring contracts... you don't want to even risk losing one or the other.
Manning, Webb
Barkley, Gallman, Carter
Ellison
Engram
Beckham Jr
Shepard
Flowers, Harrison
Norwell
Jones
Fluker
Pugh, Wheeler, Bisnowaty
Key
Vernon, Moss
Harrison
Tomlinson, Thompson
Pierre-Paul
Goodson, Munson
Brown
Jenkins, Apple
Cockrell, Hughes
Collins
Thompson, Adams
or something like that
2 OL (Price, Wynn, Hernandez, Okorafor, Rankin, O'Neill, Crosby)
3 LB (Leonard, Nwosu, Vander Esch, Jewell)
4. RB (Kelly)
4c. CB
5. OL
6. WR
6t. DB
7. PK
(G, G, OT, NT, DT, RB, RB, DE/OLB, SS/ILB, SS/ILB, blocking TE)
Rinse repeat.
Some positions have two cards.

The only reason to trade up is if Cleveland doesn't want a QB with their first pick and is open to trade offers.
2 OL (Price, Wynn, Hernandez, Okorafor, Rankin, O'Neill, Crosby)
3 LB (Leonard, Nwosu, Vander Esch, Jewell)
4. RB (Kelly)
4c. CB
5. OL
6. WR
6t. DB
7. PK
I agree with the first four. But I prioritize another LB and DL ahead of another OL or CB. I think a FS in the latter rounds would be a good pick up.
You must think about your particular coaching style, synergy, needs, types...the market. In which positions quality is dropping right now....
Then use rounds 2 through 6 with the BPA available approach
The idea of using the number 2 pick on a weapon for Eli seems very short sighted to me
