Colts have been talking to Darrell Bevell for weeks about OC position. One of key positions on staff still unfilled
I can’t see Eagles releasing Staley when they’ve lost Reich and DeFilippo

D. Pederson knows staff defections are part of winning. Big test will be how he replaces original staff. He likes the idea of internal replacements and creating a pipeline, but also important to see what's available. Next few weeks will be busy.

Would be an even bigger surprise now if Eagles let Duce Staley interview for Giants OC. Makes sense if he ends up OC in Philly with Mike Groh bumping up as QB coach

Bevell was college teammate of Colts GM Chris Ballard, so ...
Reich didn’t call plays in Philly so above adds up:

Frank Reich didn't call plays for the Eagles, but he had a big role in Eagles offense. Helped create the offense with D. Pederson, spends an hour-plus the night before games going over the play sheet with Pederson. Good sounding board for Pederson.
I like me that idea.
The love affair with Stefanski really screwed us up: waiting for your girlfriend to finally say yes, she'll marry you, and when you finally think you'll get an answer, one way or another, her father says he won't let you see her any more.
Kaboom!!!

Fresh blood sounds like it could be more useful than an older OC who'll want more control.
I like me that idea.
Goodell would shit himself.
I wonder if Jim Caldwell might be a guy willing to consider staying in the game for a little while longer as an OC.
Wonder if they give Sean Ryan a call or even Mike Mularkey.
Goodell would shit himself.
More importantly, it's not legal anyway. Completely against NFL rules. Contract would never be approved.

It's kinda sorta what Brady did in NE.

Giving someone a storefront to run a side business is not at all comparable to using a coaching position to circumvent the salary cap.
+1
MM is the Ravens OC. Childress is supposedly retired.
You're correct on his QB development. The question is whether Shurmur is only looking for someone he knows or has worked with over the years.
Tom Downing OC w/Raiders this year QB coach w/Raiders,Bills,Lions 37 years old
Automatic ban!
The guy , Carr threw under the bus? Basically said he wasn’t ready to be an OC?
*ducks*

LOL, this guy is being jumped to Head Coach and he has never even called a game? Interesting.

Didn't call it with the Eagles, but he was Chargers OC for two seasons.
If it was clear that what's he wanted to do if he was selected head coach why should it matter. Would you rather he hire an OC who then learns later he's not going to call the plays and then you have a disgruntled staff member. How does that help?

Just so we can all play along, it was bad when McAdoo called plays as a HC, but calling plays should be a prerequisite to becoming a HC. It's especially important that a coordinator develop a skill that most fans hope he will never use as a head coach. Did I get that right?
Goodell would shit himself.
I wonder if that is actually possible for an active player to be a coordinator ... if so that would be brilliant. Just have to wait until the owners meeting has taken place so no one can vote it down.

Take Eli Manning upstairs. Tell Eli they are cutting his 2018 pay down by $3M. Hire Eli as a QB/OC. Pay him $4M for OC.

Don't want Eli as an OC.
He reportedly interviewed for the Vikings OC role. With Shurmur calling the plays, this could be a good situation for Campbell.
Chudzinski and Goodwin are both good OC options imho.
Chudzinski is a nice option, however, would be ironic considering he replaced Shurmer as Cleveland HC. Chudzinksi left the Panthers just before Gettleman's arrival, but Gettleman will have the contacts in place to know exactly what he would bring to the table.
Harold Goodwin is intriguing. Like Bettcher, Arians brought him with him from the Colts. Arizona did have Tom Moore as Assistant HC/ Offense, so I am not sure how the offensive roles were split up between Arians, Moore and Goodwin.
I see Dorsey more of a QB coach though.

announcing he will call the plays...I think that decision would sway potential OCs the other way.

I think Shurmur should just stick to head coaching.

I don't disagree with that, but it may be like his time in Cleveland where he does the play calling the first year, then turns the play calling over to an OC in the second year. Point is, the situation here with the Giants wasn't a good fit for someone like DeFilippo, but that doesn't mean they won't bring in a good OC even with limited play calling responsibilities.
