Wow It Finally Happened...The Athletic Take on New York

Pat Trinia (for the Giants), Rick Carp (for the Rangers), Arthur Staple (for the Isles), among others. I was waiting for them to add New York, I really wonder what this is going to do the sports media landscape and if the NYPost/DailyNews are going to suffer.

I thought New York was the one market they would not touch for awhile due to the resources it needs.

2006,2013,post Vikings 2007, and in perpetuity literally everywhere outside the giants fanbase Eli is/was a polarizing figure.

'pay to read'. NY Daily News online, my hometown newspaper online, etc. Seems to be the model in the last few months.

Just got a letter from the Record/NorthJersey.com saying the same thing. Web access only available for paid subscribers - so Stapleton goes behind a paywall. Paper's gone to shit anyway - once they got rid of Klapisch the writing was on the wall.

good luck trying to get people paying for it. The way these people write free content gives me no confidence that what they produce behind a paid access fee is worth it. Nobody's forking over a monthly fee to read Pat Leonard or Vacchiano.

As an average joe about to launch a website with some paywall features, I applaud this model. While it may be true that you can get similar features for free, I feel that original, unique content should be paid for by subscribers. Let people decide if it is worth it, or not.
