Nick Chubb or Rahsaad Perry or Royce Freeman?
Assume we went qb in rd 1. We resigned Pugh and signed Norwell in FA. We drafted a talented lber in rd 2. These three backs are there with Barkley(rd 1), Jones (rd 2), Guice (rd 1), Michel(rd 2), Johnson(rd 2)
which one do you like and why?
For me I think I might take Perry. Can carry the load 5-10 225b. He is a td machine and can bowl over people. Perry can be a work horse with Gallman spelling him.
I like Chubb, also but I think Perry is just better. One plus for Chubb less wear on him since he split with Michel basically 55-45 the last two years.
Rd 1: Rosen
Rd 2: Wynn
Rd 3: freeman
Ideally, I'd rather trade up for Kerryon Johnson though.
But by the time you get to round three you're merely duplicating what we did and we we got from the past two drafts. You're not improving it, so why not use the pick to shore up an area where it can make a difference?
Two of each that's basically the whole draft.
My 2c is nose DT...but...
That's not really true - Shurmur likes to utilize an early down back and a pass catching 3rd down type as he did this year with Murray/McKinnon
Obviously if he has someone as good as McCoy as he did in PHI, that guy is going to get the bulk of the work - but I think we'll see a couple of guys splitting duties primarily.
Unless we draft Barkley - in which case I'd expect him to get bout 80% of the touches.

Kind of the guy I've got earmarked in my head for the Giants in the 3rd round. It's been speculated that Shurmur's offense runs best when you have a single, well rounded and versatile RB, Penny fits the profile.

That was only after Cook went down. I read somewhere that Shurmur was a driving force behind the trade up for him in the 2nd last year.
Except catch and block. But other than that, he's extremely versatile.

I'm sure if we were to draft someone like Barkley, he'd get most of the touches as Cook was before he was injured.
I was reading an article about Shurmur's power spread concepts a while back and it had a blurb about RB's:
I think that was before they drafted Cook, though. So - you're not wrong. I think I'm just operating under the assumption that we'll be rolling with more of a committee because I don't think we're going to wind up taking Barkley.

...the steal of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Yes. Maybe Darnold 1 & Jones 2.

Jones is getting a lot of first round love lately. He may not be there in round two, but would certainly be worth consideration if he is.
I think all this RB is some good publicity but not reality. Dalvin Cook was a sure first rounder. Kamara was at least a second.
One of these guys is going to drop to our 3rd pick. That's where the value is.
Ummm, wtf? How the hell do you read the OP and come away with the idea that he’s suggesting that the Giants have already decided to take a RB?
This place is something else...

That any of the running backs will be at the top of the Giant's board when we select in Round 3? Surely you're not suggesting that the team arbitrarily just pre-slot certain positions in specific rounds without regards to the talent then available when we do choose?

Maybe because the title of his post reads "Which RB would you rather have in Round 3?" Perhaps you should pay a little more attention when you are reading something.
