To stop being instinctive and doing what is comfortable.
Case in point there are many NBA players who have poor technique in their shot. It not always as easy as some suggest when they want to know why these athletes can t get "coached up"
This article does not give one confidence that Flower will ever be a left tackle.
the author states numerous times that he does not know what he is talking about and proceeds to describe a whole lot of step concepts for Offensive linemen both in College and in the Pros. He does not explain anything about Eric Flowers footwork or technique -- he just abruptly comes to some conclusions about what Flowers cannot do without explaining how he arrived at those conclusions sprinkled with comments about what he doesn't know.
How can anyone arrive at a sensible conclusion based on this? I can't.
Some might lay blame that he isn't receptive to coaching.
He is entering his 4th year and will now have the 3rd OL coach. An argument could be made that there has been too many cooks in the kitchen over Flowers' tenure, but at some point, it is reasonable to conclude that the ingredient stinks.
has to put him in a position to better utilize his strengths; something that Mac failed to do. He is a mauler, to put him at a position on the line where he can utilize those skills, while minimizing his pass blocking deficiencies

I'm with you 100%. He's cropped together pieces of information about different techniques and then puts his "analysis" as someone who isn't an expert about what Flowers is doing wrong.
I'd love to hear from our new staff whether they think Flowers can be fixed.
...in 2016 when he spoke on Sirius before a Thursday night game. Of course, the review was verbal, but it had the same bullet point approach to what he couldn't do and how poor his technique was.
Then again, as Sy has mentioned, he was making the type of progress mid-season that would project him as a servicable RT, and at this point any of the five spots that you can say that about is one less you have to ink as a UFA or draft pick.
We better find a LT that is better than Flowers... it may sound really easy, but there is a reason he has been stuck at LT since the day he joined... better options have not been easy to find.
before his contract is up. If they think he can be a guard (a Fluker-like desperation move to salvage something from the #9 pick), this is the year to try it. If he washes out there, we might as well let him walk.
I do have faith that he could develop into a solid RT or RG though. He did make progress last season and while he will never justify being a top 10 pick he can still develop into a solid piece for this offensive line if he puts in the work.

Flowers remained at LT mostly because Reese refused to consider moving him to RT. When the Giants expressed interest in Okung, Penn, etc Reese made it clear that Flowers was the LT and that they would have to move to RT which immediately eliminated the Giants as a possible destination. One of Reese's biggest flaws was his stubbornness to admit a mistake with draft picks.
Plant him at right tackle, hold your breath and cross your fingers.
A better idea is to sign Chris Hubbard to compete with Flowers at RT, Hubbard can also play guard, and if Hubbard wins then move Flowers to RG and draft a LT in rounds 2-3 to compete with Wheeler at LT. Braden Smith, Tyrell Crosby, Jamarco Jones, Desmond Harrison, Alex Cappa, etc are some options. Then sign a cheap veteran to a 1 year deal like Ty Nsekhe to provide more competition for Wheeler. Also draft Wyatt Heller in round 4 plus add an up and coming G like Zach Fulton of KC who can also play center.
More and more I hear scouts and coaches say the problem with these players today is that they aren't coachable. Flowers has a lot of raw talent but he has to take to coaching to improve his flaws.

This an he needs an attitude adjustment -- he never looks like he really wants it out there
To be doing similar to a guards technique. Trying to get low and push at an angle. Seem to remember he flailed at that badly. Hunched over and off balance, no.power, rather than squat and push upwards or what have you.
Is he that bad of a LT and can't be fixed?
If so, what is his natural position?
I was under the impression that the TE from MN last year was going to be used as chip blocker to help Flowers. Didn't see that happening.
Serious question- Is it his technique? strength? desire?
You don't just give upon someone with his size etc unless it is hopeless.
with the 9th pick in the draft. JR / Ross should have been long gone by then . Mara under pressure by the 'league' caved again. Get a real JOB family MARA and out of football. TC should have been and deserved to be our GM .
Big Blue Wrecking Crew. Mistress of the Meadowlands. Haha. Takes me back.
Oh, and that was a good post.

Thanks for sharing.

The question then, is can he be moved inside?
I'm thinking by some of the comments here, that Flowers
might not be someone you don't want around.

Same reason why JPP got a 4 year deal
Same reason why Reese wanted to cut DRC to make room for Apple.
Same reason why the Giants drafted a RB in the mid rounds every year.

I think he can be salvaged as a tackle. Possibly RT. A Starting one is a question mark though.
But he could be even worse at guard. He doesn't seem comfortable getting low at all.
