If there is one thing Eli deserves, it's respect. He gets disrespected a bit, even from Giants fans, but regardless of what you feel about his abilities at this point in his career, he deserves our respect.
Very pleased that Eli gets to come back and remain a Giant; although I am definitely in the draft a quarterback camp if you have conviction that your guy is there.
Certainly father time will win in the end, and the Giants need to put a succession plan in place at QB.
Nothing against Darnold or Rosen, I like them just fine and would be happy if either were the choice at #2, but the guy I keep coming back to is Mike White of Western KY. I might be in the minority, but I like him just as much as any of the top QBs. Curious what Sy will have to say about him.
I don't think most Giants fans really understand what Eli has been.
His sheer durability is amazing. The Giants' backup QB gets mop-up duty, and that's pretty much it. That's not true for most teams. How many games have Roethlisberger and Rivers missed in their careers? (Spoiler: Many.). Brady missed a full season with a knee. Rodgers gets hurt and the Packers go down the tubes. Those teams have had to rely on backup QBs, and that's sometimes left them scrambling and their fans counting the days until the main guy gets back.
The next guy might be a better pure passer, or more mobile, and even win titles, but Giants fans will probably gripe that he's not as durable as Eli. And they'll probably be right.

Pretty sure Rivers has been very durable. I don't remember him ever getting hurt. He got hurt in the playoffs and played through it, but has he ever missed time?

No, he hasn't. In fact, due to the benching, he's probably going to pass Eli in consecutive starts for 2nd all time. Thanks McAdouche.
Here is another interview, but with D. Patrick. Some of the same questions, but at the end he gets to read his draft report and then he throws some passes to one of the guys working for DP. Kinda funny. Link - ( New Window )

Rivers has never missed a start since becoming the starter in 2006. His current consecutive games streak is 192.

Eli is tied for 9th all-time, not 2nd. Rivers is still more than a full season behind Eli, so it's not necessarily a given, although he is basically a full year younger than Eli (he just turned 36 in December).

Funny dig at Eli by McLovin before the throws, but Eli still has an arm.

The best part of that video is at the end when Eli whips the ball at that Eagles fan. LOVE it!!!
Eli deserves what Charley Conerly, Y.A. Tittle, Fran Tarkenton, and Phil Simms deserved when they were at the end of their useful role as NYG starting QB.
No less, but no more.
The calendar doesn't lie. Even if you are Tom Brady.
that this front office had him protected behind garbage this long....
Same here. It was painfully obvious when Tom Coughlin was fired, that Jerry Reese should have been fired as well. We were all waiting for it, and when it didn't happen - we all wondered why.
What rankles me is that there are actually Manning haters here
... everyone knows the time will come when Manning will no longer be the Giants starting QB... but there are some on BBI who actually want to dance on his grave. And that speaks volumes about who they are inside.
and drafts a top RB to give ELI a chance to go out like the champion he is. Forget the QB pick . We already have a hall of famer here, given the tools. Give him a chance to prove it . We owe him that .
Geez Jon. Someone is going to hit on one of these QBs. Let's hope it's us.
Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it very much.
