I would be very surprised if the Browns don't sign him. It won't deter them from taking a QB in the first round but it would give them a nice veteran to hold down the fort for a year.
Dont the cardinals not even have a QB on the roster Â

What makes anyone think he is better than Kiser as backup? What has he accomplished?

I am not saying that he is better than Kizer but you must have missed how the Browns agreed to send the Bengals a 2nd AND 3rd round pick at the deadline last season but they didn't submit the paperwork to the league's office in time. So that is the reason why I think the Browns will try to sign him not because I think he is a good starting QB.
Cousins is the only one who has had success in the NFL Â
Back a truck full of money up to his door or go with the best Qb prospect at 1 overall. If The prospec5 turns out to be bad it cost you a pick but you still have #4 overall and you waist less cash. If McCarron is a bust you will have waisted 50-70 mil min.
They (I believe) offered a 2nd and 3rd for McCarron but fumbled somehow at the deadline... they cried about it back then but Browns fans are glad they did now... trading high picks for a guy who is now a free agent would have been god awful. Hopefully they take Rosen or Allen at #1 and pass on my boy Sammy... Its Cleveland sooo if Darnold is as good as I think he is then no way Cleveland takes him, they are cursed at QB.

That’s the old Browns. They have legit smart Football people running the show now
He’s shown the ability to win games. Stepped in for dalton and outplayed him and should have beaten pitt in that playoff game. If I had to guess I would say AJ is a top 20 nfl starter
if you think they just forgot to do paperwork at the deadline - I've got a bridge to sell you.
Hue and the FO never got along. FO fucks over Hue at deadline - unfortunately for them browns owner sides with Hue and those guys were fired. Turns out they did the right thing not needlessly giving away high draft picks in the middle of a lost season anyway for a guy who had barely played and became a FA this offseason. Division rival no less.
I'm just amazed Hue goes 1-31 and still has a job. He must have pictures.
If I'm browns I bring in mccarron or Keenum and take a qb in round 1 anyway. Keep kizer around. You've gone 20'years without a qb - nothing wrong with having too many now.
RE: I don't think the browns FO messed up anything at the deadline Â

If they had no intention of trading for McCarron why did they go through all the work of working out an agreement with the Bengals? The Browns thought they had a deal done for Garoppolo but that fell through which left the Browns scrambling to make a deal for McCarron. The Browns should feel very fortunate that the deal was never completed.
Hue was the one that made the major push for McCarron Â

Sashi Brown blocked the deal and was eventually fired...he will be the Sam Hinke of football
RE: Hue was the one that made the major push for McCarron Â
i dont doubt their front office made a major push for Jimmy G. That's a separate point.
I didn't realize that Hue Jackson had that power. I still can't believe ownership made Dorsey keep him around. He had significantly more talent on his roster than Shurmur had and he is 1-31. There is no excuse for being that bad. Jackson deserved to be fired for his handling of Kizer last season alone.
His only claim to fame is having a hot girl friend.
I agree. This situation always confused me a little, because he just isn't that good. Why would anyone give so much (potentially) for him, and why does he get all wrapped up in this. I mean if it was Cousins then I could see it, but this guy is a career back up at best.
they will still take a QB at 1. Dorsey, Wolf, and McGloughan aren't fools. The Browns have built a very impressive FO that I believe will finally turn that franchise around, that is if ownership doesn't meddle.

I didn't miss the Browns trying to trade for McCarron, didn't care.
Someone at Browns woke up and said - "Are we nuts?".
Browns offer McCarron equivalent of 1st rd deal. After 2 years player/team option. If he succeeds he gets big bucks. If not he goes back to Alobama
So too the Vikes, no?

Daulton is basically the mendoza line for starting QBs. He is like the worst QB that you would extend his contract.
Still stuck with Marvin, Bobby Hart, now they lose this case.

Nothing much, but apparently Hue Jackson loves him. Even after the failed trade, Jackson was caught taking selfies with AJ after a CIN/CLE game.
Jackson did coach him at CIN, so maybe he knows something others don’t.
