he would have readily seen that it said Happy New Year, without making a claim that it was the *Asian* New Year. And that the good wishes were sent out to Asian BBI-ers. There's nothing incorrect or untoward in that.
and holy s*** it's a big deal here! Very hard and expensive to get any accommodations in Queenstown or Auckland and the population is majority Chinese (especially in Queenstown). I'm amazed. Huge fireworks show in the harbor in Wellington last night. In NY you barely know it's even happening unless you're near Chinatown.
