Charles Haley's message to the Cowboys: 'Jerry built this house for a bunch of damn losers'
Not to say Haley is wrong, but to speak out like that is pretty fearless, considering you don't hear a lot of criticism from Cowboy vets. Here's a quote:
"And then the egos are so big and they're so busy getting on Twitter and Facebook and everything else - maybe they should get in that playbook. Maybe they should learn how to rush, catch and block.
"I tell those guys nobody's scared of them. Ain't nobody in the league scared of y'all. What y'all been doing is listening to people saying you've got the best offensive line in the business. I said who's scared of y'all? Huh? Those little things like that, those intangibles, the attitude you take to the field [matters]. ... I go over there and I watch guys work. I watch them go through drills. They go through three or four drills and they're gassed." |
Yeah, you might think "old man yells at cloud", but Haley has five Super Bowl rings...he has credibility, IMO.
Part of me thinks the last CBA hurt a lot. These practice limits are aweful and early season games are sloppy.
Too many guys get hurt every year on ever team. Is it over training? Is it under training? Turf vs. grass? who knows.
What's the difference?
Last time I looked we were drafting 2nd; Dallas 19th.

Agree - 100%
None of that will ever happen. If anything , practice time will be shortened with less actual tackling allowed . The vise grip of Concussion Protocol will be tightened . The NFL’s decline toward a boring , flag-football-type product is irreversible.
The game will be banned at the scholastic and collegiate levels. That cuts off the talent supply. Total implementation : my guess is 10 years , maybe 15 at most . There is no “going back.””
New talking to most of the NFL. And also to a generation of people who think a college degree is proof of their intellect and major achievement is lots of followers, likes on Insfagram reposts on Twitter mean more the. Actually doing things

Which is how we got here. Mark I agree as well the practice time as hurt the quality of the product as have to many pre season games. The owners want more games. Hopefully the new CBA will work out practice schedules and less preseason which should lead to a small percentage increase 52-48 instead of the current 50-50. More real games will increase advertising revenue and bigger salaries for the players and less crap for the fans. sounds to simple.

It's definitely not getting banned at the collegiate level. You are are wildly underestimating the revenue streams involved, which make even the concussion/CTE liability a palatable risk.
college football will not go away

No way it's getting shut down. Billions and billions are generated by college sports. And, as we've seen recently, they will do ANYTHING to keep that going.
Hope he's not a CTE victim, he was damn good player back in the day.
I do think the Cowboys need to move on from Dez.
They can bring out all the old stars they want. They are still the 2nd most screwed up organization in NFL (DC 1st). Eventually, even cowboy fans will tire of Jones' act.
As long as Jerry runs team and continuously hires feeble coaches and staff...
The cowboys will always SUCK

I am beginning to wonder if some guys (who are naturally gifted athletes) are more into being a "Famous Sports Hero" then they are at being a great Football player?
I hope I am wrong about that ... and it is not true.
Also, is it possible the league has to many teams and we are exposed to a water downed product? It is to late now for that though ... even if it is true, what organization will fold it tents?
I think there is a video somewhere of him saying he will never hire someone like Parcells again. That's why he keeps Garrett around someone who just goes along to keep his Job.
In his mind he is the Cowboys and its Jerrys World and everyone better damn know it. Thank the Football Gods for that!

From that Boys will be Boys book, Haley was certifiable. Hall of Fame talent, but I'd rather have T.O. in the locker room.
