A Cool Vid on LT

Brown Recluse : 2/17/2018 9:35 am
If already posted, I’ll delete. Its a few weeks old so I’m sure it probably made it on BBI at some point and I just couldnt find it.

Been a while since I’ve seen that level of intensity on a Giants team.

Also, the 80’s and early 90’s were a great time for football.

and ferocious. That photographer had to have crapped his pants (about 30 seconds in) = GOAT!

The term GOAT is tossed around a lot but, in his case - he truly was. Each era has it's stand outs. Butkus in the 60's, Lambert(?) in the 70's ... and Taylor in the 80's (at LEAST that much) but, he had to be the GOAT.

Nobody played guitar like Jimi Hendrix, Nobody did Kung-Fu like Bruce Lee, and Nobody played Defense like Lawrence Taylor.
About 4 years old.

See it many times, but you can't get too much LT.
Who was the Redskin that he knocked into the other Redskin ...

and they both went down (right at the beginning of the clip - about 34 seconds in?). I think he was wearing #47? Does anybody remember that game and the circumstances that made him so angry? I believe that would be an automatic ejection if that happened today.

I had to watch that clip 3 times ... so far.

QBs were so much smaller, physically, than what they are now.

When LT hit them, they were leaving their feet and getting blown back like they were getting hit by a car.

Average QB in 87 was 6'3 212
Average now is 6'3.5 225.

At his size 6'4 245. He hit QB's at top speed. You just don't see that
LT played angry and with his measurablles

was a fearsome guy to face. Changed the game and intimidated teams. Incredible. Only Butkus had done that before on defense in his era.

Without a doubt - the single greatest defensive force in History of NFL.

Between drug testing and his other outside hobbies he would never get on field today.
But, man he was something to watch.

every Sunday was like Christmas to me. I couldn't wait to watch LT and that defense play. Today everyone wants offense but I have to say there is nothing like watching your defense destroy another teams Offense to where both sides of the ball quite on the other team. The 85 Bears was the same thing when watching them play. Pure domination.
All TACKLES .... no hits.

Pure, wrap-around tackles, not one hit. No helmet hitting. Pure, bad-ass tackling.

WE MISS YOU, LT.

what you want about LT. The man loved the game and his teammates and they loved him. I was amazed when I heard Phil Simms talk about how Lawrence was the first to congratulate him after every touchdown. He said he could not remember a time when he did not do that.
Great comment...

LT is the reason I became a football (more specifically, Giants) fan.

I still remember when I was really young, watching the Giants and even then, you could just see that LT was stronger and faster than everyone else. He was playing at a different speed. The guy just jumped off the screen.

Just an incredible player in so many ways. One-man wrecking crew.

Sucks that he's had so many issues in his personal life - but nothing can ever change what 56 did on the football field. Unparalleled dominance.
