NFT: Replace closet pull chain with LED sensor light option

mattlawson : 2/18/2018 12:43 pm
Has anyone here done this? I can’t find a really good option at my local Home Depot or Lowe’s everything is either battery powered sensor or will require extra extensive wiring for a door switch.

I recently move my washer dryer unit upstairs into a stackable unit but now turning the light on via the old 70s pole chain is really problematic. I think it would be cool to have a sensor light wired in so when the door opens automatically clicks On. But do I have to do something with the door jam or can I just have a replacement unit for lightbulb pullchain where it comes with the sensor built right into it?

You can get a motion sensor that screws into a light socket (linked below). They also make LED bulbs with sensors built in.

Haven’t tried any myself, do I can’t say how well they work.

Gets rid of that annoying pull string and works great. You also have option of having it work only at night or day and night The sensor in the bulb works very well. Its LED and cost 8 bucks.
