Draft Trade Question.....

Dry Lightning : 2/18/2018 5:20 pm
Is it possible for the Giants to trade Beckham to the 49'ers on the day of the draft with us receiving their first round pick this year. The reason I ask is if we use the pick, and then he failed a physical with them, what would the league do? We would have already used the pick for ourselves. I use Beckham as an example, but can a player be traded for a pick the same day pre-physical like that?
Any player who fails a physical

Voids that deal.

If a big name player was to be traded, it would likely be before the draft so a physical could be completed.

It screws up both teams plans.

For a lesser player where the risk is much lower, teams may be more inclined to trade day of where it's a minor improvement to the team not a core foundation.
CHances are

Team agrees to wave a physical or in this case the Giants would have to provide results of a recent physical. Highly doubt OBJ is failing a physical.
No it’s not possible

You fucked up as soon as you said “trade Beckham”. You want us to trade the best player we have had in at least 30 years? I’m no rocket science but that idea has to make you dumb as all of hell. I’m sorry to say it like that but if it makes you feel any better you certaintly aren’t the first one on this board with only half a brain to suggest we trade OBJ and I highly doubt you will be the last.
And I know you say you are using Odell as an example
est1986 : 2/18/2018 6:24 pm : link
But no, just no. Bad example fucked the whole question up.

You are having trouble understanding what "Example" means. Take a few deep breaths.
OP

Let’s not attack the OP for asking a legitimate question, I don’t think he is saying we should definitely trade Beckham. Honestly though, I’d take three or four good players (eg Diehl, Jacobs, Bradshaw, Seubert types) over one Beckham caliber player. This isn’t the NBA superstar league where one or two stars can get you a championship, you need a team to win. Look at the damn Eagles, do they have a Beckham caliber player? How about the Patriots outside of their QB? Do they have a Beckham type player? Gronk has been injured his whole career so can’t really point to him. I love Beckham, but even if he stayed healthy this year we may have won 5 or 6 instead of 3.
I love the sarcastic

Geniuses that act like trading Beckham is so stupid, because he is so good. What have we won with him? If he is that good I mean. I think trading him could work out fine, no question about it, you don't need him to be a winning team, ask the Pats about that, they have a best player, but he plays QB. You pay Beckham that kind of money and you take away from other positions on the team.

I also think you can win with Beckham, losing has not really been his fault. The point is simple, you can win either way. So when someone makes a point about it, try to understand Beckham is not the team.

Agree with you Paul, I’m concerned that they are going to break the bank to resign him and the depth of the team will suffer as a result. That being said, it seems like Gettleman knows how to draft offensive lineman which Reese was god awful at. If he can get a few gems in the mid rounds over the next few years we might be able to pay Beckham and still be a good team. Reese was excellent at drafting WR and a few other skill positions, but couldn’t draft an offensive lineman to save his ass.

est1986, you are becoming insulting about a hypothesis?
Are ideas for you, right or wrong or good or evil? :)

If the Browns offered the Giants all of their 2018
draft picks for OBJ would you trade him?

It's the offseason, if we don't make odd hypothesis'
we'd would be forced to talk about recipes for punch.

The Giants reportedly will have over 70 million in cap room next year. That includes the contracts of Eli and JPP who will both likely be gone. If they are cut then the Giants will have over 90 million. The Giants could also release Vernon and that would free up even more cap space. They could sign Norwell this year and re-sign Collins and Beckham and they would still have plenty of money to fill other holes. You do not let an elite talent like Beckham go.

Do you have any good punch recipes?
And replacing JPP, Vernon,
