The Texans have told ILB Brian Cushing that he'll be released sometime before the league year begins March 14. The emergence of second-year ILBs Zach Cunningham and Dylan Cole made Cushing expendable. They'll save $7.64 milliion under the salary cap when he's released. |
... for a 2 year suspension? The next time his piss is hot from the juice earns him a 2 year suspension. Between the juice and the injuries, he is not worth the risk even at vet minimum.

This, plus he’s a mega douche.
Kicking of the tires might be appropriate.
Bill Romanowski mega douche?
Bill Romanowski mega douche?
Last year, he served a 10 game suspension for a second violation of the PED policy. The next time is a 2 year suspension.
There has to be an in-between from "let's keep the same linebackers" and "let's go sign a worn down and broken linebacker that hasn't even been good in 5 years".

Unfortunately, this is going to be a 2-3yr project.
The talent level on the whole roster needs rebuilding.
And LB is in line behind OL, DB, Pass Rush, and QB
New coach and a 'losers schedule' can get a team quickly
into the playoffs, see Giants 1997. But talent wise
I think the current roster is not as good as 1978 or
2003, year before new management. I think it's going
to take 3 yrs for the Giants to return to being
major players. I wouldn't count on Eli being around
so we need a new QB for future.

At the vet minimum he might be. The mega douche aspect is just Bosco and Joe's alumni sour grapes.

I get the "beggars can't be choosers" mentality and the predicament the Giants find themselves in, but even at vet minimum, he isn't worth the risk. With roster spots at a premium along with the practice reps, he would be taking away both that should be spent on a player that has a future. He has shown an inability to to refrain from PEDs. He is a piss test away from being out of the league for good (A 2 year suspension along with his injury history and age is essentially a career ender).
We were desperate for safeties when Will Hill was puffing on the pipe. No injuries, obvious talent, and young, but he was still not worth the risk being a piss test away for a year suspension.
Bill Romanowski mega douche?
I haven't heard Bill Romanowski stories from him - Bill is in a class of his own.
Cushing just pops 'roids like he's trying to get a push from Vince McMahon.
This is not an ultimatum of Cushing or be happy with what you have.
How about invest in an ascending young players, draft linebackers, or round out the unit with a vet who's not 10 years into a career and a documentes PED violator?
But talent wise I think the current roster is not as good as 1978...
Really???
That's a little harsh.
Other than Carson and Van Pelt that roster was awful.
Would you rather have Eli or Pisarcik?
Beckham and Engram or Perkins and Dixon?
The 78 OL wasn't all that great either and the top 2 Giants RBs from 2017 both had better YPC than any 1978 NYG RB.
I also think the DLs are about even and the 2017 secondary (when healthy) is far better than the 78 version.

You have to bear in mind that if Jimmy Googs ever had an intelligent thought, it would die from loneliness.
That's fair. Link below. Your turn.

Beason wasn't the Panthers problem and he had a successful first year here. He just couldn't stay healthy. Another victim of micro-fracture surgery.
