We used to have Lincolns' Birthday & Washingtons' Birthday on their actual Birthdays not these Gov't regulated Monday/Friday holidays to give everyone a three day weekend. It used to be that you really appreciated it when their birthday did fall on a Monday or Friday. But, alas, I am at work today.
Work for a European owned company. If you work outside US great holiday plan. Work inside the US and the plan is not near as good. They made the mistake of releasing the US and Canada holiday schedule in the same email. Canada employees received 4 additional days.
Sucks.
They re-arranged our holiday calendar some time back -- we get the day after Thanksgiving, and we get a day around our birthdays, and we go half-day for Christmas Eve -- but we lose King Day, Presidents Day, and Columbus Day. So, we lose around 1/2 day overall. But that's consistent with life here . . .
But at least the phones are quiet and my bosses have made it clear that they have no issue, since we are not against a deadline in any matter, if I just work on the tasks that are not too time consuming
Sucks.
Thanksgiving, Christmas... that's about it.
Do you work at Northern Dutchess? I split my time between Rhinebeck and NYC.
