I am just pointing out how stupid it is to take a guard with the #2 pick when you can get a guard in round 2 with pro bowl upside and an all-pro guard in free agency.
people are convincing themselves that every other prospect is bad because they really want the RB.
Is it not possible that Barkley is a great prospect AND there are some great QB prospects also? Why must we have tunnel vision and fixate on one player?
RE: RE: RE: Prospects like Nelson come along every 15 years? Â
I didn't realize David DeCastro and Zach Martin were drafted 15 years ago.
I think the Skins drafted Brandon Scherff at #5 thinking he'd be an OT. He's pretty good at G. Wasted pick AT #5 though.
False.
Skins drafted Scherff with every intention of playing him at G.
Scot McGloughan calls Scherff his 1 or 2 best draft pick ever
Not true. They wanted him to be RT but he didn’t play well there when they tried him there in the off season and in camp so they moved him to guard where they knew he would thrive. But you can bet your ass he would be a tackle if he could be one. Luckily for them, Morgan Moses has developed nicely and Trent Williams is still kicking, so now Scherff can dominate at guard.
It's mind boggling to me that anyone would want a guard at #2 overall in a draft rich in qbs for a team with a 37 year old QB who is almost never in this position. Just makes no sense at all.
"Clean pocket up the middle" was used non stop by the poster who wanted to have John Jerry's baby on BBWC
Gidi confirmed that FirstballotEli is the John Jerry Troll. First ballot Eli also referred to guard as a "premier position" You would think that with all the handles this guy has had he would be better at disguising himself but he is clearly too dense to do so.

There is also a similar port on BBWC from the same guy stating to take Nelson cause he is worried about Indy at 3.
From all the John Jerry crap to this??? Dude needs a life...

Flem, calm down. The greatest guard of all time? Josh Rosen may be the greatest QB of all time! Which would you rather have -- the greatest guard or the greatest QB?
John Hannah was/is the greatest guard of all time. never went to a Super Bowl. Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Joh Elway all considered among the greatest QBs of all time -- lots of Super Bowls.

Nelson is significantly better than any Round 2 Guard.

and I wouldnt take the best Guard in the NFL at #2 overall, not sure what about that you don’t understand. I don’t think he sucks, I’m not taking any Guard at 2 no matter what.
So have fun regurgitating the same old shit. You suck and this thread sucks.

Larry Allen would go #1 or #2 overall in a re-draft

If Brandon Scherff can go 5th overall, Quenton Nelson can go 2nd overall.

when the Giants could take their next franchise QB is colossal mistake.
Using the 2nd overall pick on:
Sam Bradford (Josh Rosen)
Jake Locker (Josh Allen)
Over
Larry Allen (Q Nelson)
Larry Allen over Carson Wentz or Matt Ryan is a colossal mistake. See I can find examples too!
...would be the real mistake.

So one draft guru says that he is "one of the best." That's a far cry from "The best run-blocker scouts have ever seen"

Interesting as neither are Darnold or Rosen. Locker was the 6th overall pick. Bradford was done in by his injuries.
Re-read it.
Rosen = Bradford. Injuries will do in Rosen like they did Bradford. Rosen is frail.
Allen will bust like Locker. Same QB.

Are you dense?
Nelson will be a 12x All-Pro.
He has the talent to be the #1 Guard in all of football.
Maybe of all time.
This will end quickly.
Bye!

At #2 we need an impact player. Our brass need to find that stud!
Nelson is literally the #1 "impact player" in the draft
Larry Allen reincarnated
Impact huh?
Power running game up the middle, including short yardage
Clean pocket up the middle
Giants are 32nd in Rushing since 2011.
The best run-blocker scouts have ever seen, doesn't have a profound impact?

He is the highest graded interior OL prospect in NFL history.
Literally. That is not hyperbole.

Don't worry, the REAL GM (Gettleman) will make Nelson the pick.

Scherff is Nelson's FLOOR. Nelson is much better.
Nelson is a Pro-Bowler in Year 1.

cool, did he win those SBs throwing and running and tackling all by himself?
Doubtful.
Don't worry, the REAL GM (Gettleman) will make Nelson the pick.
Today's NFL has increased the value of Guards.
Osemele contract.
Zeitler contract.
Norwell will command $12-13 million per year.
Zach Martin will command $13-14 million per year.
Top Guards make much more than top Right Tackles and top Centers. Much much more.
You are doing a horrendous job making your case.
Quenton Nelson:
- Best player in the draft
- Safest player in the draft
- Highest graded prospect EVER at his position
- Fills the #1 position of Need for the Giants
- Compared to Larry Allen, the greatest lineman of all time
Quote:
Flem care to share your credentials as you clearly know more than the draft experts including Sy.
Sy knows more about Offensive Line play than Geoff Schwartz, a former OL who is basically an OL expert?
Yes he does. Players are not scouts. Theres a reason for that
You are doing a horrendous job making your case.
QB wouldn't play his 1st year.
Eli is starting in 2018.
You're paying a #2 pick to sit on the bench.
Can always get a QB in 2019.

Every scout besides Sy has Nelson rated the #1 Guard by a large margin.
You just did a horrible job of making a point in ur favor.
Best player in the draft.

Highest graded prospect ever at his position.
Fills the Giants #1 position of Need.
NFL comp is Larry Allen.

Check the draft grades on NFL.com
Nelson = 7.4
Hernandez = 6.11
Wynn = 6.11
All the scouts agree: Nelson is the best OL in this draft by a wide margin.

Chris Snee had little to do with the Giants 2 SB wins.
