Center position in Draft may fall perfectly for Jints...

M.S. : 2/19/2018 4:05 pm
...with need and value being there when the Giants select near the top of Rounds 2, 3 and 4.

Round Two (34th pick), good chance that either a James Daniel (Iowa) or Billy Price (Ohio State) are on the Board.

Round Three (66th pick), good chance that Frank Ragnow (Arkansas) is available.

Round Four (about 100th pick), good chance that Mason Cole (Michigan) is available.

These are all good players, so if Dave Gettleman wants a Center, I think this Draft sets up nicely for him in terms of Round flexibility.
I would be surprised if Price is there at 34.

Grabbing Hernandez at 34 and Ragnow at 66 with Norwell in FA would be a solid pocket for Eli/rookie to step up into.
I've been thinking the same thing...

And it's not just about availability, it's about alternatives. If a prospect that they have a top 15 grade on falls to the 34th slot, they won't have to choose Price or Daniels over him simply because of need.
We don't need a new center, . . . . .

we have Brett Jones! (I know that because I was so instructed here when I suggested something similar.)

Jones was an improvement, but an upgrade wouldn't make me sad. However there is a lot to be said for having a vet calling assignments.
Thinking Price is gone

For our 2nd pick.

Norwell, Hernandez and Ragnow! Sign me up now!!!
There is little chance that Price and Wynn are there at 34

If either are then the Giants should be thrilled.

TC... I'm a big fan of Brett Jones, one of my favorite Giants. I'm not saying he's an All-Star, but I think he can be of service to a re-made offensive line, including providing decent backup at either Center or Guard. But I wouldn't be upset at all if Jones is our starting Center in 2018. (But Flowers starting at Left Tackle would be waving the white flag before the battle has begun).

Agree here. Oline won't be completely rebuilt overnight, and Jones can certainly be a stop gap for next season.

Exactly!
I like the fact that Price plays both Guard and Center.....
Simms11 : 2/19/2018 4:57 pm : link
If we can get him at 34, get him. He could be a Guard year 1 and then transition to Center, much like Richburg did, his second year. Let Jones go back to being a back up. He’s nice depth to have.
I don t watch offensive line play
joeinpa : 2/19/2018 5:02 pm : link
Closely and would have o opinion on Jones except that I know David Diehl thinks very highly of Him
If we trade back with Cleveland to pick 4
Rjanyg : 2/19/2018 5:39 pm : link
Select Nelson, get picks 33 and 35 and have the first 3 picks of round 2, select Tyrell Crosby with one of those picks, get LB like Jefferson, QB like Rudolph, round 3 Rashad Penny, round 4 Mason Cole.

In FA get Norwell at LG, either Fleming or Hubbard for RT.....here is you OL group for 2018:

RT: Fleming, Wheeler
RG: Nelson, Bisnowaty
C. Jones, Cole
LG: Norwell
LT: Flowers, Crosby

If a trade is possible then the rebuild can happen in one year.
I don't have specific position recommendations,
Ira : 2/19/2018 5:43 pm : link
but I'm hoping that the Giants pick up two highly rated ol, a tackle and a guard, - one in the draft and one in free agency and additional players for depth. I think we can get by with Jones for another year or two.

Jones has shown enough to be a swing center or guard. At worst, he's a good backup.

Either Norwell or Hernandez would have to move from LG to RG.

...except for one important fact. Center isn't a need for this team. Brett Jones will man the pivot for the foreseeable future. And he'll do it at a high level of play.

O-line I would like to add one of the top LB's although
unless for what ever reason we traded down my 2nd favorite
player outside of Barkley is Smith LB Ga. he would take
some of the wear and tear off of Collins he is a friggen
beast I peg him for rookie DPY ...
Evans LB Ala . be a nice addition .
Price will most likely be gone.

At 34. Interior OL who can play day 1 and save a team lots oF FA. $$ won’t last anymore. You can grab productive RBs and WRs days 2 3 and 4. Theses days any OL who start at two positions like Price can are more valuable As they are gettong rarer and rarer
