But he isn't some 24-year old who came out of nowhere to finally show the world what he was capable of when given a chance (a la Kurt Warner twenty years ago). He's a 29-year journeyman with 29 career starts.
Bill Polian said on ESPN’s NFL Live that, if he were the Eagles’ GM, he wouldn’t listen to any offers for Nick Foles unless they started with “two 1’s and two 2’s.” |
If I'm the Eagles, I'm wondering if it makes sense to pay a journeyman $7M to be Wentz's backup simply for sentimental reasons. The fact that they may be able to trade him for a day two pick (let alone a day one pick and more) should be considered a "get out of jail free" card. Meanwhile Foles is being asked by reporters if he would be willing to play this year for only $7M. Insanity!
Am I wrong?

Foles played a perfect game in the SB. Led response drives to shift the momentum every time.
2. Bill Polian is an idiot.
Bear in mind that the light bulb for Foles came on when the Eagles ran a RPO offense for him specifically. He played that SB like a poised and confident QB.
Foles played a perfect game in the SB. Led response drives to shift the momentum every time.
Wentz is the better QB, so yeah, they still win the Super Bowl.
You trade him as soon as possible for what you can get because his value will never be higher.
Its easy to be smart with Peyton Manning and making changes to rules to help him. Maybe not idiot, but Reese has 2 titles to his 1. Who's smarter?

Reese's 2 titles don't mean he's smarter than anyone. Have you seen the way his rosters have looked the past few years? I don't know if he's smarter than Bill Polian or not, but maybe they're both idiots.
He's getting old, but he's far from an idiot.
What GM would give up that, guaranteeing that Foles comes in and is handed the starting QB job?
Huge mistake.
Look, the guy can play in the league....but to me over time his warts will show and he'll be what he truly is: a good backup.
Foles played a perfect game in the SB. Led response drives to shift the momentum every time.
and you've officially gone from annoying to annoying and predictable.
I assume he's under contract, correct? Why would the Eagles renegotiate?
If we have learned anything about the Eagles over the past 15 years, is they don't succumb to pressure of signing/resigning/extending players.
Pesonally, I'd hold onto Foles for one more season (assuming that's his contract) and ensure Wentz is 100% healthy.......cap wise you're not in position to pay two QBs (not that Foles even deserves a big pay day).
Two ways to make money in this world...Buy Low and Sell High or Buy High and Sell Higher.
Is that what he's actually getting paid for 2018?
If so, no wonder his wife kicked his butt and said "you're carrying a clipboard"..............

They probably don't win the SB with Wentz. Foles was perfect, timely and clutch. Wentz is the better QB but he could have folded under the pressure. There was a lot more film on the offense Wentz was running for the Pats to scheme against. The playbook was largely new for Foles. Considering how close the game was and how perfectly Foles played it is very reasonable to suggest they may not have won with Wentz.
I tend to agree...what was Wentz going to do, put up 50+ points?? LOL.......
Things sometimes just work out. I still suggest that the 1990 Giants don't win it all with Phil Simms.
he’s already put up 27 TD 2 INT in a season. Now he’s proven he can win and put up huge numbers vs a top D in Minny, Belichick. Handle the pressure of playoffs, Super Bowls.
Foles is 29, still a lot of football left.
He has a cost effective contract
.
Huge value.
The guy has proven on the biggest stage possible that he can game and win the big one. Most QB's only dream of having that level of moxie and accomplishing the feat. Who's to say Wentz ever wins one? We don't know that he can. We know that Foles can.
I think Foles has big value, and unless blown away by an offer the Eagles would be idiots to part ways considering Wentz's injury status.

This guy is starting to remind me of that clown that was obsessed with Duke Johnson.

It's either that guy or the John Jerry guy. Maybe they're the same person. Who knows.
In any event, he's a fucking stain.

That last statement is giving him too much credit.
