NFT: Yankee Fans: Predict the Home Run Totals...

M.S. : 2/20/2018 3:51 pm
...who will have more?

Group A
Gary Sanchez
Didi Gregorius
Greg Bird

Or,

Group B
Aaron Judge
Giancarlo Stanton

Here's my (crazy) guess:

Group A: 87 Home Runs
Group B: 80 Home Runs

Put your best guess down here and we can all have a laugh come September.
Group A: 88 (Gary 35, Bird 30, Didi 23)
bceagle05 : 2/20/2018 3:54 pm : link
Group B: 95 (Stanton 50, Judge 45)
Health is obviously the key factor
Gatorade Dunk : 2/20/2018 3:56 pm : link
but barring injury, I don't see how group B ends up with *only* 80 HRs.
Group A 105
DennyInDenville : 2/20/2018 4:20 pm : link
Gary 45, Bird 40, Didi 20

Group B 110
Judge 54, Stanton 56
Group A
Matt M. : 2/20/2018 4:40 pm : link
Sanchez should hit over 30 and Bird and Didi should hit about 25 each.

Group B: I expect a dropoff for each of the two, with Judge being more dramatic. I see Stanton in the 40-45 range and Judge in the 35-40 range.

But if Bird stays healthy it could be close.

I'm thinking 40 for Judge, 50 for Stanton, 35 for Sanchez, 25 for Bird, 15-20 for Gregorius.
60 each for the goliaths
xman : 2/20/2018 6:00 pm : link
40 each for Sanchez and Bird. 32 for Didi.
I think someone did the measurements
BlackLight : 2/20/2018 6:07 pm : link
and determined that if Stanton had played 81 home games in Yankee Stadium last season, he'd had finished with 70-80 dingers.

Group A with 84

Group B with 99
Tough question.
yatqb : 2/20/2018 6:50 pm : link
Group A: 90 Sanchez 40, Bird and Didi 25 each
Group B: 95 Stanton 48, Judge 47
Uneducated predictions
JoeMoney19 : 2/20/2018 7:06 pm : link
Stanton 51
Judge 46
Sanchez 37
Bird 28
Didi 23

So 97 for Group B (Judge + Stanton) besting 88 for Group A (Sanchez + Bird + Didi).
good time to opine
RasputinPrime : 2/20/2018 7:22 pm : link
A: 40, 22, 35 (97)

B: 48, 49 (97)
Group A: 85 (Gary 34, Bird 27, Didi 24)
adamg : 2/20/2018 8:10 pm : link
Group B: 84 (Stanton 44, Judge 40) [/quote]
I think Sanchez has a monster season this year
mfsd : 2/20/2018 8:32 pm : link
Thinking back, the year he had last year after starting off with a bicep injury is nothing short of amazing. I also think Judge and Stanton get pitched around a lot, giving Sanchez and Bird more chances. By year end I think Sanchez is considered hands down the best catcher in baseball.

My HR predictions:

Group A:

Sanchez 38, Bird 32, Didi 20 = 90

Group B:

Judge 46, Stanton 44 = 90

Regular season tie, to be settled in the playoffs!
I'll keep a running tally if any more guesses are posted...
M.S. : 2/21/2018 9:01 am : link

...so far I've come up with the following from 12 responses:

Home Runs (Average)
Sanchez/Didi/Bird = 90.3
Judge/Stanton = 94.8

Home Runs (Median)
Sanchez/Didi/Bird = 88.0
Judge/Stanton = 95.0

Home Runs (Standard Deviation around the Mean)
Sanchez/Didi/Bird = 9.59
Judge/Stanton = 11.16

Only 2 out of 12 respondents have guessed Sanchez/Didi/Bird will out-homer Judge/Stanton.

3 have guessed a tie between the two groups.

7 have guessed that Judge/Stanton will-out homer Sanchez/Didi/Bird

Interesting

thread.

Group A:
Sanchez: 29
Bird: 32
Didi: 22
Total - 83

Group B:
Stanton: 48 - new to league
Judge: 52 (Judge is still the better hitter)
Total - 100

...the more the merrier!

{:-)
If all 5 of them
arniefez : 2/21/2018 12:59 pm : link
play 145 games or more they could realistically hit 200 home runs. The record for most HR in one season for a team is 264 by the 1997 Mariners. The Yankee record is 245 in 2012. The 2017 Yankees hit 241. Sanchez missed a month. Didi missed a month. Bird missed almost all of the season and Stanton was on the Marlins. With good health 300 might be in reach.
