Tom Pelissero& #8207;Verified account @TomPelissero Follow Follow @TomPelissero The #Bears will decline their $8 million option for 2018 on veteran guard Josh Sitton, sources tell @RapSheet and me. They'll go younger. Sitton goes back on the market at age 31. |
Plus a 2nd round draft pick
3 new guys on this OL
And 8th draft slot may be a good value spot for QN to be picked.
Sitton may be done.
I agree. Re-sign Fluker, he's good with run blocking. Fluker is bigger (Hog Molly), cheaper and he's 5 years younger. If Sitton was pretty good the Bears would have paid the $8M with the current price tag of veteran Oline guys.

They don't care about Sitton.

Sitton isn't done, he's just not worth $8m a year.
On a good line, he's a liability. Nice as a backup player, but I'd hope Gettleman has higher standards for his starters.
He basically played the role expected of him - backup utilityman. And he did it as you'd expect him to. I'm all for resigning him cheaply, but not to anchor a starting spot without a better plan.
