The #Bears will decline their $8 million option for 2018 on veteran guard Josh Sitton, sources tell @RapSheet and me. They'll go younger. Sitton goes back on the market at age 31.

Hello interior!
Norwell and Sitton
EddieNYG : 2/20/2018 4:47 pm : link
Would be awesome!
Might be wise

to pay MUCH less for Sitton rather than breaking the bank on Norwell.
Look at his games missed.
Diver_Down : 2/20/2018 5:03 pm : link
He is our Pugh. He has missed 6 games in the past 2 seasons. He is also 32 and the wear and tear of 10 seasons in the NFL is starting to show.
All the Beas fans are hoping for Nelson

They don't care about Sitton.
Possibly a fall back option as a stop gap

If we miss out on Norwell.
Giants need more than 1 OL in free agency

Norwell AND someone else

Plus a 2nd round draft pick

3 new guys on this OL
I like Norwell and Fluker as our guards
Andy in Boston : 2/20/2018 6:18 pm : link
Fluker did a good job...and he's affordable.

And 8th draft slot may be a good value spot for QN to be picked.
Sitton may be done.

I agree. Re-sign Fluker, he's good with run blocking. Fluker is bigger (Hog Molly), cheaper and he's 5 years younger. If Sitton was pretty good the Bears would have paid the $8M with the current price tag of veteran Oline guys.

Sitton isn't done, he's just not worth $8m a year.
Fluker is not a good player.
Brown Recluse : 2/21/2018 7:53 am : link
He looked good at times last year because everyone else was shit.

On a good line, he's a liability. Nice as a backup player, but I'd hope Gettleman has higher standards for his starters.

exactly! There were times last year that Fluker looked lost. On other lines, he'd get heaped with shit, but ours was so bad that if any plays stood out, the guy is looked at as solid.

He basically played the role expected of him - backup utilityman. And he did it as you'd expect him to. I'm all for resigning him cheaply, but not to anchor a starting spot without a better plan.
