They are not looking at the big picture I let go check the market he is a slot receiver not a game changer. You let the market tell you the price no one is going to offer him 16 mil why would you? Owners just don’t seem to understand the money they are wasting needlessly by bidding against themselves.
Landry is a good player but he is the primary guy on over 85% of this team passing plays for like 8/9 yards. You don’t need to pay over 11 mil for a player providing those numbers they just inflated the market stupidly. He also has not been an angel on the field emotionally which has created a somewhat controversial environment. Love the player but understand everything involved in making this decision not only for your team but the future market.
It is more about letting the 31 other teams that Miami owns his rights. The timing of placing the tag is unusual as most teams will delay placing the tag on a player until closer to the deadline as they negotiate in good faith to get a long term deal in place. By tagging a player on the first day in advance of the Scouting Combine aka Tampering Central, they are telling the other 31 teams to contact us and not Landry's agent.
Should go in sign his tag and say I'll see you next year same time. He should not even accept calls about an extension 16 mil for one and pay raise due next year laughter all the way to the bank.
