Eli Apple for Martavis Bryant? Both guys could probably use a change of scenery and it would give us a 6'4" body with speed on the outside opposite OBJ. With JuJu emerging the Steelers might be willing to trade him for a former number 1. Thoughts?
Just doesn't seem like a smart move

considering our lockerroom. Our lockerroom was a disaster last year and you are bringing in a guy that won't make it better and would quite possibly make it worse.
Not an

outrageous trade idea.

But I think Gettleman holds Apple to be with the new coaching staff.

Well would get some addition by subtraction. I am trying to find a way to get some return on a number 1 pick investment. What Eli did in our lockerroom last year has hurt his trade value. This is an exchange problems and hope a new environment helps both guys type of trade.
Bryant has had very public issues similar to Apple
JonC : 2/21/2018 9:16 am : link
and he sucks at WR.
I could see a new environment helping Apple,
Keith : 2/21/2018 9:17 am : link
but not Bryant. First off, he's been suspended how many times already? He's nearing Josh Gordon territory. Also,he seems to want to be the #1 option and we have 3 guys that are probably better pass catchers. I don't see him being happy as the 4th option when he's not happy as the 2nd.
APlle is WAAAY better than Bryant and less of a problem.

Bryant is a dick who can't play. Apple has shown he can play and is issues seem to come from immaturity mor than anything. Bryant is just a bad seed.
He's a good example of why measurables aren't sufficient

indicators of what a player will do on the field. He's big and fast (he ran a faster 40 than Beckham at their combine), but he's not a very good receiver.
Why would you trade away a talented young player
Mike from Ohio : 2/21/2018 10:25 am : link
with attitude/maturity problems for another talented young player with attitude/maturity problems? "Change of scenery" certainly isn't enough of a reason.
OK
mdthedream : 2/21/2018 10:33 am : link
look the issue was partly caused because the coach had no control of his team. Just let the new staff handle it. The kid will be fine.

If Apple can keep his nose clean

all through pre-season, there may be some hope for him. Else, explore trade options. It would be bad, very bad, to have back to back 1st round screw ups.

Don't think anything where Slade is the source is worthy of a thread

He has already been suspended for a year so he is one drug test away from at least another 1 year ban/ban for life
Apple is so not WAAAYY better than Bryant
Glover : 2/21/2018 3:36 pm : link
This is a good hypothetical trade that won't happen, but I dont see why anyone would think Apple is WAAYYY better than Bryant. They have both hurt their teams in different ways, both seem immensely immature and not top talent at their positions, but each seem to be able to be solid players and contributors to any NFL team if they can stay out of trouble and dont quit.
short memory
JonC : 2/21/2018 4:12 pm : link
Apple was a very good starting CB his rookie year, and it's about upside with him.
as for Bryant
JonC : 2/21/2018 4:13 pm : link
read his quotes last season, he's exactly what you don't want on your team. He's also got poor work habits, poor route running and hands to go with the poor brain.

consultant to try to help Apple mature and then mend fences with his teammates. If he can't do that he's likely done on the team..."a cancer" can't stay on a winning roster indefinitely.
