NFT: Alcohol more important than exercise for living past 90

The numbers were:
18% less likely premature death for 2 glasses/day
11% less likely for exercise
21% less likely with a hobby (im assuming exercise and wine count)
10% less likely for 2 cup a day coffee drinkers
3% not being obese.

if you have the willpower to limit it to 2 drinks per day, drink socially with friends and family as opposed to on your own and also take some days off so you are not habit forming dependent.
does watching the Giants suck

count as a hobby? If so I'll be healthy as a horse!
Trying to figure out ...

... how not experiencing a premature death equates to living past 90. And if everyone in the study you're assembling behavioral percentages from is already over 90, you are excluding all the people who have died from cirrhosis of the liver without ever getting close to 90. The stat they specifically quoted that threw me is this: "People who were overweight in their 70s lived longer than normal or underweight people did." (So maybe it's not the alcohol, it's the calories?)

There are some very good studies of Norway during WW2.
The Germans took Norwegian grown and developed food
and sent it back to Germany reducing the average Norwegians
diet by 40%. During the occupation of Norway, after reducing
the average Norwegian's diet the rate of heart disease
went down 50%. After war, Norwegians increased their diet
and within a few years were back to 'normal' amount of
heart disease. Check out also Okinowa/Japan same
phenomena.

I think 'moderation' is the key to life, the 'middle
ground'. A person who can drink only 2 drinks a day
is extremely moderate. (lol) I can either drink or
not drink. But for me as far as drinking no moderation.
I love alcohol more than it likes me. :(

well past 90. What bullshit!
Was the "study" funded by Coors?
That news report mischaracterizes the study
Jim in Fairfax : 2/21/2018 8:14 pm : link
“The 90+ Study researchers said that a number of news reports — including a widely cited UPI article — are inaccurate. The researchers wrote: “A better estimate from our papers would be: Using data from our 1981 survey, people who consumed one to two glasses of alcohol (beer, wine or hard liquor) per day had 9-15 percent lower likelihood of dying compared to those who abstain from all alcohol. Participants who exercised 15 to 45 minutes a day in 1981, cut the same risk of mortality by 15-35 percent.”
