Yes, there was a lot of pressure on her to perform, but a lot of it was created by herself.....
But she blew the Super G on the final turn, and then the downhill.....instead of losing graciously, she had an excuse for all her mistakes and losses....
Kind of tarnished her image as the leader of the sport....
At her age, and after all the injuries she's had, it was kind of a miracle that she was even competing in these Olympics.....so kudos to her, for even getting there....but she lost a little bit of her shine with the excuses....
Way to offer support for your daughter, Mr. Douchebag.
I saw that. What a total dick.
She's definitely the greatest female skier of all time. During her prime she was in a league of her own, and her comeback after these serious injuries, is remarkable.
But one thing that's no secret is that she's always been a sore loser. I've seen numerous interviews with her, and a lot of times she's been blaming other factors than her own performance for a bad result. A lot of times she was very hesitant to congratulate the winner, while she was always quick to point out her own performance when she won.
Same thing after the downhill race at the olympics. It was obvious that she was bugged about finishing third, and after complaining about it a little bit she back-paddled and made it sound like she was happy about winning the medal.
I guess that's just her personality and an expression of her competitiveness and ambition. Definitely part of the reason why she's such a great athlete.
BTW this has nothing to do with her being a bad teammate. I don't think she's anything close to what you would call a "locker room cancer" in football. But after all, I don't know if she would be as helpful to her teammates if there was ever serious competition from within the US team.
Larger than life, however the expectations are high and losing
is not considered acceptable
I stated an opinion based on Lindsey Vonn's participation in a reality show a few years ago and the spectacle she created when she dated Tiger Woods. Meh in this case means 'meh'.
So you're not as culturally savvy as me, supposedly, such that you're completely unaware of some rather controversial political statements she made recently, but you're fully up to speed on reality shows and sports celebrity dating. Makes perfect sense.
Do you really think there's anyone who can't see through your crap?

No pictures?
She's a handsome lass.
Weren’t you around for 2014’s The Fappening? How could you need more pics after that?!
I don't know what that means lol ... so I guess I didn't pay close enough attention?
...one way or the other about Lindsey Vonn?
Can she play Left Tackle?
But I'm sure there's some sort of tangible reason to try and take down the most decorated woman skiier a notch....
Fatman,Trump did it. She said she wouldn't go to the White House and was pissed.

Yes, her desire to win, seeing her in the flesh, very up close, as she watched the Norwegian edge her out for the silver to her good friend Foggia's gold: she could not hide her disappointment, bitter disappointment. Are we all so perfect?
But what Doomster and Pollo Diablo did not mention--and what was to me the sharpest, most poignant takeaway--was some time after the Downhill, during the interview with the older woman covering women's Alpine events, asked her about wanting to win the race for her grandfather: at first, Vonn kind of gave the canned response, yes, I wanted to win it for him (he died in November), but as she was speaking of him, the dams just burst and she started blubbering, "I hope he would be proud of me, I wanted so much to win for him, will he be proud..." All the pent up force of the massive pressure she placed on herself to live up to her vision, possibly his vision, for her. It was extraordinary theater, and I mean that in only the most respectful, sincere way.
Yes

lip service, but anyone watching Vonn saw that she was pulling for the younger skiiers and was radioing up the hill to give updates on conditions. Interviews with other teammates call her the leader of the team and the "glue".

Yep, when in doubt just blame the most popular person to blame.
You watch project runway?
Have you SEEN her thumbs?!
She burnt up a ski - NBC even showed it. And it was the announcers who reported it - as well as saying a couple other skiiers burnt their skis up.
You really just seek out shit to be negative about.
At least Mara wasn't blamed.....
About Vonn: Completely agree.
Really great. Girl Drama - when the Italian woman won her event. Despite winning gold, after her hug w bff Vonn she seemed distraught..instead of overjoyed. ;-) he hehe.
Her face is all over TV and media. Gotta live up to the hype. She didn't.
The only difference is that Lindsey goes downhill on purpose.

but she deserves every ounce of scrutiny.

That's right, there was zero expectations from her.
All those collective commercials, endorsements, interviews, human-interest; all because she's a normal fuckstick like me.

Yes, his/her brain is wired to be a major asshole.
Vonn is 33 years old, her first Olympics was 16 years ago. Any achievement this year, and I know she expected herself to win, would have been a legendary end (likely the end IMO) to a legendary career.
but whatever, she's a Kardashian on skis because she's in the media and has endorsements. There should be a test people must pass before posting. this person wouldn't post again, I'm fairly certain.

I can always count on this fuckstick for a good laugh. Are brains really wired that differently that certain people have completely outrageous takes on almost every topic?

Huge difference between endorsing products and having several "reality" TV shows with an empire because you banged a guy and posted it. Every major athlete endorses products, it is how they make money.
The Kardashians figure out how to suck money from morons because of a porn movie.
Not exactly the same thing, is it?
Jesus, the idiotic takes on this thread don't stop.
Eli is an attention whore now?
And proves once again that sarcasm is an acquired skill...
Jesus. What a stupid thread.
Jesus. What a stupid thread.
My thoughts exactly. Total train wreck
And a damn good skier.
I'm a fan :)

An egregious omission to be
Well, Molly Pan wasn't affected, so.....
So I guess John Lithgow has an amazing ass.
Always a funny one. Lol.
