NFT: Babylon Berlin - Netflix Series

While the TV discussion is hot, I figure I'd throw this one out there to check out. It's a German series with English subtitles. Takes place in post WWI Germany and involves the geopolitics of the time. You follow around a war veteran who's become a police investigator. It's really a well made and well written show. I highly recommend it. Probably the best TV show I've seen since The Night Of.
I really enjoyed it as well

Great acting, character development. Plenty of plot complexity without overdoing it.

Some of the plot twists were predictable, I thought, but that's fine.

I only wish I knew how accurate it is, historically speaking. Was it an accurate portrayal of Berlin at that time? I have no idea.

Definitely worth watching and binge worthy as well.
I like it too

I believe it is based on a series of books that I read by Jonathan Rabb - Detective Inspector Nikolai Hoffner series.

You should also check our “Dark” it’s another German show with subtitles. Sort of like stranger things but a bit more... dark.

it looks as if the series is based on the books of Volker Kutscher, but I'm definitely putting some of those Jonathan Rabb novels on my "Want To Read" list.

To me is better, and more enjoyable, than the book. And I liked both. How to make a second season out of it, however, keeping the major characters, will be a real challenge.

Lirerally couldn't stop watching it (and sometimes I think I have ADD) -

Jason Bateman and Laura Linney (sp?) do great jobs and in a small role as a cartel member - Esai Morales is excellent. The actress who plays Ruth (new comer?) owns every scene she is in ...

Great series and season 2 is supposedly coming soon.

Yeah, I burned through it in a few days too, best show of the year IMO. Bateman did a heckuva job as a director. Season 2 is filming now.

That's right ... It slipped my mind that I saw his name as Director if I happened to catch some of the credits. Excellent job .... excellent show.
