Marc Ross on NFL Live again today

Breeze_94 : 2/23/2018 3:52 pm
I had it on in the background but was kind of busy and didn't really catch what he said. I know he's no longer relevant in the Giants draft process, but I caught him saying that Darnold would be the perfect fit for the Giants organization and the guy he'd pick for their current situation. He was asked about Barkley and said he'd be a great pick if the Giants couldn't get a QB they like, and he also brought up Quenton Nelson without being asked about him as another guy he'd like.

The part I missed was him talking about guys like Mayfield and Jackson. I believe he said that he likes them as prospects, but that they are guys that the Giants would not consider taking because they don't fit or something along the lines of that.

Once again, I realize Ross is not part of the Giants org or draft process, but I think it's interesting to here someones perspective who is familiar with the organization.
Ross considering anyone a "perfect fit" is reason enough not to

Say what you want about Ross but I always felt like the Giants would get it right in rounds 1 and 2. Apple, Flowers were the only bad first rounders that are complete misses in his tenure, and tbh they are both still young and ascending players who can improve.

Ross wasn't really the one who was responsible for not addressing OL or LB, his job was just to identify talent in the draft. I give him credit, more hits than misses in rounds 1 and 2. Odell, Collins, Engram, Shepard, Tomlinson, Hankins, Joseph, JPP, Nicks, Prince, Phillips, Pugh, T Thomas, Steve Smith, Beatty far outweigh the misses like Randle, Austin, Flowers, and I guess you can add Richburg and possibly Apple.

Yesterday he said Mayfield was his favorite qb in the draft.

He did say Darnold would be a good fit for the Giants "if they like him".

You build a team through all rounds of the draft not just 1-2. here are some infamous picks in recent years in rounds 3 and 4. Odighizuna, Damontre Moore, Jayron Hosely, Adrien Robinson, James Brewer, Ryan Nassib, Andre Williams, Phillip Dilliard, Brandon Mosely. Enough to get you sick.
I think he said he was an Eagles fan yesterday

Or did I hear that wrong?
Assuming the Giants don’t go against their draft board ranking,
Ivan15 : 2/23/2018 4:54 pm : link
it was a great deal of Ross’ responsibility to get the rankings right. Maybe he didn’t decide to draft a receiver in Round 4 instead of some LB, but it was his job to make sure the guys in the tier were about equal.
Darnold is the easy choice to predict who the Giants want at 2
Jay on the Island : 2/23/2018 4:55 pm : link
Will he be available is the question. If they don’t take a Qb then they better trade down picking up another 2019 1st round pick.

I agree, and unless Cousins goes to Cleveland I doubt they pass on Darnold at #1.

There is a reason he’s worked for so many different teams. He’s not very good and we have it from reputable sources on this board that he was lazy

Reputable sources? LOL. 2nd hand asshat info on BBI.

This guy worked in big jobs for several NFL teams and is still only in his 40's so on the face of it, he doesn't exactly sound lazy.

He got fired. The results weren't there so he deserved it. Fine. Don't listen to his analysis. No need to pile on with character assaults especially from gutless folks who won't put their name to it.

I think Darnold to Cleveland is a slam dunk

The person has been reliable in everything he’s posted
Ross first round picks were very good
Vanzetti : 2/23/2018 7:58 pm : link
better than Gettleman's with Carolina

It was in the middle rounds that Ross had way too many reaches and guys who did not pan out

Yup. Ross has scouted these qbs. The guy has worked in the NFL as recently as three months ago.... I'd call that reputable enough to be taken seriously. He could be wrong on a few of the qbs but I hate to burst anyone's bubble, the guy knows more about these qbs than any of us do. I know that's impossible for some to stomach...
